Starting solids?
DD just turned 5 months and the ped. gave me the go ahead to start her on rice cereal. She's been having it for a few days now and she's meh on it. She can eat it just fine, but she doesn't seem too thrilled with the taste- even though it's like 75% breast milk. I don't want to rush her, but I just don't know if I should wait until 6 months to start with fruits and veggies or if I should slowly start introducing them now? Or should I try oatmeal first? Any insights are welcome!

This, except DD did not do great. She was terrible, actually. Wanted no part of anything for at least a month. Daycare told me she should be getting feeding therapy. Well, fast forward and the kid eats everything in sight.
So, she might just need a little more time. She will get the hang of it.

I didn't start with cereal either. Started with sweet potatoes and then butternut squash. All three started at about 5 1/2 months but took over a week to really start to actually eat and open their mouth for it.

We also skipped cereals and went straight to fruits and veggies. The cereals, IMO, are empty calories that don't really provide any nutritional benefit. Rice can also be very hard to digest for an infant's system and often leads to constipation. I forgot the order but my pediatrician recommended fruits and veggies based on a color system. Worked great and DD took to everything right away!

Starting solids?
Skipped all cereal and did baby led weaning at 6 months. If she's not interested, she might not be ready. Never hurts to wait. Food before one is just for fun!

Re: Starting solids?
Rice, then oatmeal, then barley (as per my ped). They are easy to digest & eat. It's also good to introduce the gut per my ped to decrease food sensitivities (she says barley early to decrease celiac disease). We then did stage 1 fruits, vegetables. We then did mixes of meats, fruits & veg. Just before 1, DD got a taste of non baby food & that was it... Now I have to cook healthy.

Re: Starting solids?
Thanks everyone! We've been giving her a little bit each night and she's seeming to like it better. She doesn't push it out now and actually finished the entire thing last night. I did pick up fruits and veggies last night so I think I'm going to start her on them this week. She is VERY interested in whatever we're eating- tries to take our food, mimics our chewing, stares like a creeper at anyone eating. Ped. had recommended we start with veggies so sweet potatoes is on the agenda for this week!
