Special Lifelong Gift Ideas
I'm tired of getting my daughter toys that are pretty disposable. I would like to start getting her things that are more special, more lifelong items maybe... any ideas of what that can be? The only thing I can think of is a jewelry box and/or jewelry. Any other ideas, I'd appreciate any and all suggestions.
side note: Also, my mom just passed away and they were close and I was even closer to my mom and don't want her to forget her, anything I can gift her that will keep that bond alive? I was thinking a photo album of the times they shared together with maybe quotes or stories of the things they did together. Just wondering what other suggestions people might have.

I moved to the US when I was 10. I would visit my grandmother every summer. Each year, she bought me a jewelry set. Now that she's gone, those sets are the most precious thing I own.
Maybe a special savings account (other than her college fund)? Once she is buying her first home, you can gift it to her to help with the house.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. Bc I also lost my mom, sentimental gifts to my daughters were always very important to me. I want them to have timeless things to have as they get older.
I do snow globes. They each have a new one for special occasions. Their birth. 1st birthday. Trips. Etc.

Dd has a personalized pottery barn jewelry box. It came with a cute key to lock it so to her that makes it fun too. Maybe a charm bracelet she can add to. I was also going to suggest a small gift along with a contribution to her savings since that's about the only thing that will really last forever.
So sorry about your mother. I think the photo book with added stories and memories is a fantastic idea. Other suggestions would be maybe planting a butterfly bush in the spring (or 2 so you can keep one and she can take one some day when she moves out). Lastly maybe books that your mom enjoyed our remind you of her or you think she would have liked even. You can write a note in each explaining that and maybe adding a little memory of your mom too. Dh had an aunt that gives my girls books each Christmas in memory of his grandmother. Each comes with a note about how she liked it or it reminded his aunt of her for a specific reason.

What about starting a pearl necklace? You can add a pearl every year. Pearl necklaces are timeless and hopefully she will wear it when she is an adult.
I buy stock for my son for his birthday. I buy disney stock so the value will only increase.

I write my DDs a letter each year on their birthday with my favorite memories of the year and their milestones. I give them the precious moments figurines each year also. I also try to make a memory each year - -a show, concert, or special day. Something they hopefully won't forget.
