2 yr old programs
I'm looking for a toddler program that's just a few hours a day, 2 or 3 days a week. I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for, just something to get DS out of the house and learning/socializing.
I'm going to start calling around but is there anything that I need to know beforehand? I dont really have friends/family that would be able to give me advice on this and I feel lost.
What kind of pricing am I looking at? I only called one place but they won't quote over the phone or give me any info really. They just insist I make an appointment to come in.
Also, do they expect a 2 yr old to be potty trained?

Where are you looking?
My DS is in the 2 year old program at the patchogue ymca. He goes 2 days a week for 2.5hrs. It is $220 a month
They don't require the 2 year olds to be potty trained. He started Sept 6th and is doing really well.

Thanks for the info! It's good to know that they don't require it. I mean I could probably try potty training, he is curious about it, but I still think he's too young. I'm looking for something closer to Wading River or any town nearby

About $200-250. In the 2yo class they don't need to be potty trained.

2 yr old programs
I just enrolled my ds in nursery school. We pay 440 a Month for 3 hours a day 5 days a week.
I found 2 year olds generally aren't required to be potty trained but every place has their own diaper policy. Our nursery school changes diapers some don't (they'll call you if they poop). The first step is to call around and ask to tour a few places.
Somethings you might want to ask about: Teacher to student ratio If they follow the school district for closings (holiday/snow) Make up day policy What they do if a substitute teacher is needed Is the teacher and assistants consistent from day to day (sometimes assistants rotate) Snack and lunch Allergy policy i.e. peanut free, berry free, etc. Will they work with you in potty training when and if you begin General security procedures and emergency procedures What does a typical day look like? How much is structured v free play? Outdoor play? Etc.....

Thank you so much! I didn't even think about a lot of these but it's stuff I def need to know.
I've called a few different places already and no ones called me back yet. A relative told me it's because the sessions for this school year already started and he'll have to wait till next year now. I was under the impression he could start anytime. Does anyone know if that's true? Will he have to wait?

It's going to depend on how much availability they have. DD is in a nursery program 5 days a week, but they do have 2 and 3 day options, but I know that we got the last 5 day a week spot and I signed her up in August. A few places I called said they didn't have any spots, but for the most part any of the places I was looking had availability. None of the places I called expected a 2 year old to be potty trained and that would have been a problem since she is very much not potty trained.
Also, every place I called was willing to give pricing over the phone. They insisted that I come in and tour if I wanted to sign up, but they were willing to give me any pricing over the phone.

Thanks for the info! I have appointments with 3 places now and for some reason none of them would give me pricing over the phone. Which is really annoying because I don't want to waste my time going somewhere that might be out of my budget. I'm hoping they are reasonably priced.

We are in South Shore Suffolk and for 2 half days a week all of the schools i looked at were pretty comparably priced at around 180-220 a month.

Have you tried a catholic school by you? Pricing is usually on the school website. We have our 2yo in their "Toddler Time" program 2 days a week for 1.5 hours each day. It was $500 for the semester. They don't require them to be potty trained but will call you if they poop and need to be changed.
