Has anyone been to play:ground on Governor's Island? We're thinking of going this weekend but wanted to see if anyone has experience there.

We have been there, it's great. The whole island is GREAT! We haven't been since they opened the slides and the hills section yet though, going this weekend. I would get on the first ferry over, the line gets LONG!

Is it not open all year? I was looking at the ferry and it shows it runs until 9/25.

This year we've been there, but because of DS' baseball activities. We haven't been in the new area, but it seems fun. Regardless, the island and the plan going there and having a picnic, family bike ride, etc sounds good. Now the charge $2 for adults after certain time - I think 11 am, and yes, lines go crazy.

Update: we went today and DS had tons of fun at the junk playground! I thought we'd only be there for an hour but that kid played in the dirt and junk for 4 hours! We never even made it to the slide, the Hill, or the fort! The junk playground also has an under 3 section that allows parents (and has safer junk) but the other side was crazy (random wood, shopping carts, tires, etc). They even let kids use tools like saws and hammers (DS was whacking a wall rather hard with a hammer for a while bc he was so happy to be able to do whatever he wanted). And now we're all about to pass out!
