I am in SHOCK!

Today at the pediatricians she said we should try and get rid of the pacifier soon.

I have been DREADING doing this and swore she'd be off of it over the summer when I was home from work and I never did it because I was afraid...

Well, 2 naps today and she didn't take the paci for either of them. The first time she wimpered for about 4 mintues...then slept for 2 hours.

Second nap she cried but not horrible for about 10-15 minutes, then slept for an hour 15.

Well, we just put her to bed and she didn't make a SOUND! Not one single peep!

I don't know if this is a fluke or not but I am SOOO surprised.

Please send some sleep dust for tonight that she sleeps through the night and that this sticks because if I can get rid of the pacis then I will be a happy momma!

Re: I am in SHOCK!

Just curios how old your daugher is? My little Jenna still uses her pacifier for nap & night time and she is 22 months....

Re: I am in SHOCK!

Emily is 1 year old.

I was seriously thinking that we would do this until she was like 2 or 3 and then we'd explain to her that we had to send them to other babies --- but I tried it on a whim today and it just worked.

I just hope that it sticks.

It is much easier to take a pacifier away when they are a year as opposed to 2 or 3. Glad is it working out so well for you guysChat Icon

Re: I am in SHOCK!

Now I just have to STRESS to the babysitter that I don't want her giving Emily a pacifier.

She has her own that she went out and bought for EMily because we didn't send them all days.

And I'm worried that even if we tell her no paci and don't send one to her that she'll go out and buy one for her.

Re: I am in SHOCK!

My son was older (2 yrs) when we decided to try to get him off the bink. I was all ready with a whole plan and was alos dreading it but he never even asked for it that night or ever again. Go figure. Maybe shes a very adaptable person. Thats generally what Ive noticed about my son, hes quite adaptable in alot of situations - changing over to a bed, potty training, school, he never has issues with change.

That is awesome, I hope it lasts!

Maya is 14 months and still has the binky...I don't see us taking it away anytime soon. Chat Icon

Lyndsey used one until 2 1/2. Chat Icon
Then one day, it fell in the toilet accidentally, and I threw it out...and she didn't cry or care, she knew it had pee on it. Chat Icon

I might try the same for Maya. LOL.
