POlar Express
Looking into doing a POlar Express experience this year for the first time-- Looking for recommendations for which Polar Express ride to do? Do they do different things?
ETA : Thanks for everyones responses.. This seems so complicated lol. I am so confused as to which one to try lol. Do they all do different things? Is there a website that explains what each location does differently? what do you actually do nd is it better to go during the day or at night?

we did the one in Connecticut and loved it. I know many dates are sold out already.

We did the one in New Hope. Awesome experience! We saw Santa and Mrs Claus, took pics with them, and had cookies with milk. We also (before riding the train) walked around the town, it's really picturesque! Oh and we also did the Children's Museum which is right across the train.

We did the one in North Conway NH its far from NYC but if you stay over its a really nice experience.

we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Mystic. It had free breakfast, an indoor pool, and literally right across the street from Mystic Aquarium (which we did the next day) before we took the ferry home. My boys wanted to do it again this year, but I had a class the time tickets went on sale, and the only days left are early November during the week or after Christmas.

We were contemplating doing this one. Looks nice, but I don't get the ticketing system at all. I read something about having to buy a lottery ticket first, then you can buy tickets. Otherwise all the tickets now are for odd days/times

We did the Delaware River Polar Express a few years ago. I believe it's out of NJ. It was very cute! The train was nicely decorated, they played the music from the movie, Santa gave out a bell to each child, they had hot chocolate and cookies. They also had a juggler and balloon guy. It really was adorable.
The ONLY complaint I had was that I felt it was about 40 minutes too long. The whole ride was 1 hr 40 minutes and after that first hour the kids were just sugared up from the cookies and very overtired. The ride back to the station was a nightmare for the parents...kids running up and down the aisles, jumping on seats, screaming, etc. DH and I both said it was very cute (and DS absolutely LOVED it) but that once was enough. I think they just need to shorten the length of the trip and it would be perfect.

Yep its a lottery to buy tickets. You have to "donate" ten dollars to get your name entered into a lottery. Then hopefully you get a call to buy tickets for the day you want. Its not a guarantee. But most likely you will get a call. They call on a certain day I believe its in October from 7am to 8 pm. If you miss the call youre out of luck. Its ridiculous but soooo nice lol

The ride was fine. The air conditioning was off and it was 100 degrees and we were all in wool pajamas lol
Maybe that wasn't there fault so that was not the deal breaker
We paid for the best tickets you could get. Upper level and booth. We got our seats and were seated on the left side
Train goes music playing cookies. Hot coco. Super cute.
You get to the North Pole and everything to see is on the right side. Lights etc. we could not see a thing. So the people on the lower level who paid a lot less but we're on the right saw everything. I didn't like that it was explained to you
Was it awful,no. But to pay what we paid for tickets,a hotel and the 4 hr drive
We may try the jersey one and just come back home
I'm also going to get the earliest train bc we went at night and there was nothing to see our the window

We are doing this one this year. Did you get tickets in the mail? Or do you use your confirmation email from ticket web?

We are doing this one this year. Did you get tickets in the mail? Or do you use your confirmation email from ticket web?
If I remember correctly, we had to take our web confirmation to the ticket booth and they gave us the tickets there.

We've never been, but are hoping to go this year to the one in Kingston for not other reason than it will be cheaper for us being we have a place to stay up there.
