Essex Christmas Train
For those that have done it in the past.. any tips?
I got tickets this morning (there website is so ******) and I am trying to decide if we should stay over night or come back home..
Also, trying to decide if we should bring my 2.5 DD AND my then 8 month old DD. (She would be on the lap so doesn't need a ticket)
Any thoughts?

We loved it last year. We didn't stay overnight and I think our train was around 7. I would bring your 8 month old too. Today was the 1st class tickets? We had 1st class and I think you'll be fine with the baby on your lap. We didn't buy this year bc my baby will be at most 6 weeks, but I still considered going. Their website for tickets is horrible.

The site was a total sh*t show. Yes, first class went on sale today, coach tomorrow. We have an early train 530 so hopefully we will jst drive back at nite and the kids will sleep.
ETA: Any good places nearby to eat dinner?

Re: Essex Christmas Train
This looks awesome!! I'm going to check it out.
I can't speak for this particular experience, but I can say that dd2 LOVED the Strasburg rr (I think more than dd1 did!) and she was just shy of 8 mos. for that.

We've done it for the past 3 years, but it seems to be getting harder and harder to get tickets. You should definitely bring your 8 month old!
We've never stayed over. We usually take the ferry over, get there a little early to see the museum and gift shop before it gets crowded, and grab dinner after the ride. The kids are already in their PJs for the ride home! Have fun! We love the trip.

We went last year and stayed in Mystic (about 25 mins away). I would bring the baby, we brought my little one when she was about the same age and I think she slept.

we have gone for a few years. we always stay over. We make a trip of it. We always stay in a hotel with an indoor pool so we get there early and let them swim - then dinner - then train. Then we go back and sleep and wake up and do breakfast at craker barrel and head back to ferry
