We went to Riviera Maya in Mexico and it was amazing. We hung out by the beach and pool every day. Best vacation
We did too! Stayed at the Royalton, which we were very impressed with, food was amazing, pools were beautiful, huge sprinkler pool slide area for kids, highly recommend. Where did you stay?

Re: So tell us how your vacations went in Summer 2016..
We did Kalahari right before summer and both kids LOVED it!! They had so much fun, we couldn't pull them from the water!!
We just got back from a few days in Williamsburg, VA. We had such a fun time!! Busch Gardens is a really beautiful park and it was empty so we walked right onto all of the rides. My little thrill seeker DD loved all of the coasters she was tall enough to ride. The kids also had so much fun in Colonial Williamsburg and at the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum that was there. It was a really nice family vacation!!
In a few weeks we're staying at Mohegan Sun and taking the kids to Mystic. Can't wait, hopefully we get some nice cool, crisp, fall weather for that trip!

We went to Montauk for a few nights and it was really nice and relaxing. We stayed at a hotel that was on the beach and also had a pool, so we spent the whole day going back and forth between the pool and beach. We watched the sunsets on the beach every night.
May I ask which hotel?
Atlantic Terrace
I stayed there a few yrs ago. I loved it! We went pre season and they were all ready booked for that summer. Would love to go back!

Local vacations:
If you ask me: Boston This was fantastic! This was the second time we did it with kids... We knew what restaurants to eat at & the sights to visit. Highlight was definitely eating at Row 34, getting cannolis, and whale watching. Whales were in a feeding frenzy and we saw 9 of them. We also did some museums (including art museums for DH) and walked around a lot.
If you ask the kids: Rye playland We went with my sister and her kids and went towards the evening, went for dinner at the crazy overpriced but right there restaurant at the pier just in time for a thunderstorm to pass over us and returned to an open park with no lines all lit up for the evening. We had an amazing fireworks show at the end of the day. We returned here later in the summer and spent 5 hours in kiddie rides (the only repeat being 5 rides on the kiddie roller coaster). Love it here! It's also close and cheap... I don't know why it's not more popular with the LI crowd.
Our big vaca: Grand Cayman: This place was the best beach vacation I have ever taken. The beach is pristine, we took out catamarans from our hotel, the pool was amazing, DD finally learned how to swim across the pool, we saw starfish and a gorgeous coral reef. We will return.
Just curious... where in Grand Cayman did you stay?

Nowhere because I find the thought of a travel with a one year old way too stressful. We will revisit it next summer.

We actually rented a home with friends at Sea Colony at Bethany Beach. DH and our friends are avid tennis players and Sea Colony has a great tennis complex. They had a private beach with 5 beachside pools. It wasn't luxurious but everyone had a great time.
I personally like resorts better. I think it was DH's favorite vacation. They went to the courts twice a day, once with the kids and once with dads only. We'd swim, walk to the beach, go back to the pool.

We went to Lewes and Bethany Beach in DE this year. Did not get a chance to go to Rehoboth but it is also popular. Will go next year.
We live in the DC area though. I don't think these places are any better than Cape May or OC, NJ. I personally really liked Pt Pleasant, NJ but have only gone there as a day trip from NY. Don't think there is much difference from the NJ and DE beaches.

We spent a week road tripping to Montreal and Quebec with our 3.5 DS and 8 mos old DD. The ride was a little long but we absolutely LOVED both cities. So much to do, see and eat. Great museums, waterfront, walking around, amazing restaurants. Highly recommend it!

We just got back from here one week ago. What a great vacation! We visited the turtle farm, swam with the dolphins, rode the jet skis, kayaked and snorkeled (all of those at the hotel) and lots of beach time and pool time. There was also a kids club that had 2 or 3 activities a day that my DS loved (feeding the turtles in the courtyard, making a chalkboard backpack, water balloon yo-yos, metallic tattoos, etc). I made an organic sugar scrub. The beach is so clean and soft sand. There was a reef about 50 feet off-shore right in front of the hotel so there were a lot of fish - swimming around your legs in only about two feet of water. We also visited Georgetown - DS's favorite place was Margaritaville - pool with a twisty slide on the roof! We loved the resort (Marriott on Seven Mile Beach). There is a resort fee but it includes so much that costs extra elsewhere I really didn't mind paying it. Definitely want to go back.

So tell us how your vacations went in Summer 2016..
We go to Hilton Head every year for the past seven years. Wide flat beaches, ocean usually isn't rough. Excellent restaurants and very family friendly. We stay in Palmetto Dunes in a time share across the street from the beach. Pool outside our unit and on a little river. To me it's perfect.
We want to Kalahari and both kids (2.5 and almost 7) loved it. Very easy to navigate and fun for all.
Visited Eden in Lancaster BC it's my older daughters favorite hotel. Hit up the Hershey Chocolate Works and explored Lancaster.
All great family vacations :)

Re: So tell us how your vacations went in Summer 2016..
We went on a 7 night Disney cruise with our 2 DSs - ages 6 and 2. We had a wonderful time! Definitely recommend it for how easy it is and how much there is to do. The cost in summer i thought was outrageous but it was truly a stress-free vacation where we got to visit different places, swim with dolphins, snorkel with sting rays, hold sea turtles, and have great character experiences and fun. My youngest still mentions it every day - he'll randomly say "I want to go on the Mickey Mouse boat again."

Re: So tell us how your vacations went in Summer 2016..
We spent 10 days in CA: 7 in San Diego and 3 at Disneyland. The kids had so much fun. We only spent 1 day at the beach. We did tons of activities: Legoland, Zoo, Safari Park, quick trip to Balboa Park, watched the seals at La Jolla, Padres game. We packed in a lot and I'm sure we'll relax a little more when we go back next time, but it was great.

Re: So tell us how your vacations went in Summer 2016..
We did Crayola Factory and Sesame Place. Both were fun. The one negative for me about Crayola was there is this huge playground on one of the upper floors. I think it's like two stories. When the kids go to the top, you can't see them. We actually lost sight of DD and after a few minutes, I was like no way. I made DH go in to get her. I really didn't like that.
Sesame was super cute. We stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn, which was really nice. We did Breakfast with Elmo. Since we were in the park early, we were able to do dry rides before the lines got crazy. Ate lunch and then did the water rides. Some of the lines were crazy long. We didn't do any of the shows or the parade. Overall, we had a great day. Only negative was dinner. The place we ate at was completely disorganized, super slow, bad service, sticky floors, and they ran out of ice!! At the end of the long day, it was all I could do from losing it.
We also did Mystic, CT. We stayed at the Marriott. We've been before and are comfortable there. I think the best part of the trip was taking the ferry from Orient to New London! 3 yo DD loved it. We went to the Seaport and the Aquarium. I was surprised at how expensive admission to the Seaport was but I guess there's a lot to maintain. There's actually quite a lot to do so we spent the afternoon and had lunch there too, which was surprisingly good.
Biggest disappointment was that we didn't even do one beach or pool day as a family.
