Family vacations this summer - Need suggestions
I know its only January but I need to have something to look forward to lol. Where is everyone planning their summer vacays for? DS will be 3.5 and DD will be about 10 months. Besides Hershey and DW, what else is there? I'm willing to venture on a plane too but nothing too long. Suggestions?

Family vacations this summer - Need suggestions
We are going on our first ever family vacation that is NOT camping! We are renting a cabin in Ely, Minnesota for 8 days at the end of July.

Re: Family vacations this summer - Need suggestions
Last Summer we went to Jellystone park in Quarryville, PA (Lancaster South). It was AWESOME! Loved it! We stayed in a rustic cabin, it had a a/c, fridge, microwave, table, bunk beds, TV/DVD player etc. Everything minus a bathroom (pain!). If you are going in a cabin, I recommend getting the ones with the bathroom. The water park there was a lot of fun, and they have SO many kid's activities. It's about 30 minutes from Dutch Wonderland, so we did that also. My kids really enjoyed it. Their site is www.jellystonepa.com
We also went to Clearwater, and visited the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (more like a rescue hospital than anything). My daughter is a HUGE Winter the dolphin fan (Dolphin Tale movie), so she really enjoyed this. We spent a lot of time on Clearwater public beach, and it was soooo nice! The sand is like flour, so soft. Very family friendly with movies at night on the beach, mini golf, nice restaurants, etc. It wasn't a party scene AT ALL like most people make it out to be. We had a blast.
Wildwood is really fun too! We did that a couple of years ago. Again, very family friendly, tons of rides on the piers.

Last summer we went to Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Very nice place.
My ILs rented a house to stay in.
Only "gripe" was sitting in traffic in Jersey and Brooklyn. I'd probably plan my route differently and leave later at night.

California - San Diego and LA for 11 days.
Last summer we went to Hershey/Dutch Wonderland/Strasburg, PA for 5 days. It was a fantastic trip. We also spent a week in upstate NY at a time share called Villa Roma. It was a nice change of pace and we had fun there too.

Cape May is great.
I keep hearing that Cape May is so nice so it's an option on our list of places to go. Is there anything in particular to see or go to there?

We are taking DS with us to myrtle beach in June. He will be almost 10 months at the time. We were considering driving at first but i don't think he'd survive the 11 hour trip. its an hour and a half flight.

There is the Cape May Zoo which is free. It was okay, we drove over during our trip to Wildwood.

We beached it every day. The beach is really nice. Had early dinners and then ate ice cream and visited the arcades at the promenade. A couple of nights, we watched the beautiful beach sunsets.
Lots of cute little artisan shops and great old houses to see. It's not an "action packed" place, but perfect for a relaxing family vacation.

Maine, we did the southern coast so that it wasn't too long of a drive for DS. We had such a relaxing get away. We rented a condo at Goose Rocks from vrbo.com
