How did you choose a nursery school?

Id like to enroll my DS into an 18 month program a few hours a day / few days a week. I feel clueless as to where to start and what to look for.

Any advice?

I posted on my local facebook page for suggestions and then toured a bunch. The ones that let you tour while the kids are there are great bc you can see how they interact etc. I wound up picking the place that I felt was the most loving/caring, not the newest facility, or the most expensive or cheapest. You get a feel for the people and I think that makes your decision.

my son just finished 3 years at the same nursery school. I agree with the other poster. you just get a feel for the places as you tour them. we live in NJ... and the school my son went to was in basically the basement of a church- not the most modern facility. but the teachers and other staff and parents were just SO warm and caring and you could just tell that they loved being there.... and thats what i wanted in a nursery school for DS.
obviously you want to look at the schedule, too to make sure it works for what you want/need.

For me i wanted a loving place bit also very affordable as I am a SAHM and we only have 1 income. We toured a bunch of places amd the place we picked was the cheapest but also the one place i left with a good feeling. Loke i knew my kids would be safe there. It's an old school in the church by us. There are certain things i didnt like, but it was my own reasonings and had nothing to do with my kids' well being.

For me it was a bit different because I was looking for a separation anxiety class. There weren't too many to choose from but once I found 2, I looked for reviews and recs and based my decision on that. Now that DS is fine going in a classroom, I'm looking for something closer. I'm asking my local fb groups for recs, but I also would like to visit the schools, hopefully when in session.
