I think I dropped the ball
DS will be 3 in October.
Just hit me that we haven't signed him up for any type of pre-school.
Are they full by now or do I have a shot? I'm not picky, we were looking into the local church programs but if they require DS be potty trained, well, we're working on it.

Re: I think I dropped the ball
You'll definitely still find places with openings.
ETA: If you're worried about potty training, you may opt for more of a day care setting since they would be more lenient on that aspect. Many places still offer shorter days or fewer days of the week if that's what you're looking for.

I don't think all programs are full
As for potty training my niece is "suppose" to be trained for her 3 year old nursery but she isn't yet. And if she isn't by September teachers just won't change her. The parent is called. She will be 3 in October. (Don't beat yourself up about that)

I taught prek in a Catholic school when I was out of college. We required potty trained students for both nursery and prek. We wouldn't change the child the parent would have to come and change the child. Eventually we did have 1 child the principal said wasn't ready as the accidents and crying were all day every day

If you're really not picky on location/days/hours you should be ok.

I'm in the same boat. I have a place I visited about a month ago but have told me they need to review their enrollment and will let me know soon. I'm not too hopeful but I don't know what I'll do otherwise.

Uggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh I think we're gonna have to go that route.
He also might not be ready - he flat out refuses to sit on the potty or do anything potty related.

For a 3 year old, you just really need socialization and play! BOCES has a couple of different programs that are like $300 or less for the entire year. It's a program that qualified staff AND students in the early childhood education program run. I would look into it

I agree! I wanted to do this for my 3 year old, but it was honestly too far from us for only 2.5 hours...I know the Eastern Suffolk one is held in Bohemia.

Re: I think I dropped the ball
DDs nursery school did not require kids to be potty trained. The school nurse would change diapers if necessary. DD was potty trained for the 3s program but DS will be doing the 2s program this fall and is not potty trained.

My son goes to ivy league in Deer Park and they pretty much potty trained him for me. I am pretty sure they have openings.

Is he in daycare? If so, they probably have a pre-k curriculum.
Otherwise I'd check out church programs. I know Methodist churches usually offer preschool programs, YMCA, possibly even your school district.
