potty training at 2 yrs old

my 2 yo (just turned two a few weeks ago) has been pretty consistent with telling us when she has pooped and that she needs a diaper change.

this got me to thinking...is it possible that she ready to be potty trained??? has anyone tried this young?

my first was 2 years/8 mos, and got it really quickly....i was thinking that my just turned 2 year old is too young, but tempting at the same time! ol I also dont want to try, have her fail and it been a bad experience for her....

potty training at 2 yrs old

My ds was 2 years 1 minth when he trained him this past April. He did pretty good. It took a few weeks for him to really get it and not have any accidents but it worked. I wasn't planning on training that early but took his lead. He was watching his older sister and wants to do everything she does so he just started the process for me

My dd trained at 2 years 3 months. And she got it in 3 days from the 3day method. She probably would have trained earlier but I waited the extra month or so.

My dd was completely trained by two years and two months-
She was fairly consistent from two on but would occasionally get involved in playing and forget.

We're planning on training in 2 weeks, and Dd will be just shy of 2. I actually think I could have done it 2 or 3 months ago-I feel like waiting to potty train is a modern convention. Everyone our age was basically trained between 1 and 2 at the latest

2 is not too young. I was the norm back when my parents had us. Its just not the norm these days where people wait til much later.

I say go for it.

Best of luck! I think 2 is the best age to train! DS was trained at 2 yr, 2 mo... But was afraid of pooping so that took a while!

DD got it in 1 day at 22 months! I think that was the best time for her (before fears set in).

My sister trained her DD at 18 months (she was expecting another when her kid turned 2... So she wanted to get it solidified before then... I had my doubts, but her kid got it!!)

I think as soon as your kid can communicate about pee, you are golden!

Good luck!

For those that trained before 2 or shortly after, do you also night train and where do your kids sleep?

DD is still in her crib and I have no intention of transitioning her from the crib anytime soon. She also always wakes up with a full diaper. I would love to potty train her shortly after two, but definitely don't want to be waking up every night to take her to the potty!

whether you train her at 2ish or later you will still need to get up in the middle of the night to take them to the bathroom.

My DS trained night and day not long after 2 and I still would never just let him go to the bathroom by himself. There would have been pee all over the bathroom. He is 4.5 and we still have to remind him from time to time to keep it in the toilet!

Oh I totally get that I will have to wake up in the middle of the night with her to use the potty regardless of when we decide to potty train. I was looking for more answers on whether people also did night training that young or used pull ups and was curious as to those that potty trained on the earlier side were their children still in a crib?

Selfishly this is one of the reasons I'm not looking forward to potty training because I don't want to give up my sleep

To the OP, I would love to hear how it goes and if you have any tips! Good luck!!!

What is the 3 day method? My daughter is 27 months and she sits on the floor potty, she hasn't been doing anything in it lately. She has when we first started but now I feel she holds it until her pullup goes back on , then she goes. Lol

I need all the help I can get.

If anyone has a copy of the 3 day method, can you send it to me?

My DS is 2 years, 2 months and I am looking to train him over the summer. He wakes up dry 95% of the time and seems to just be peeing at set times during the day. He has also shown interest in the potty and we got him a potty seat.

Thanks!

Basically you dedicate 3 days to stay home. The child goes with out pants or underwear all day. The first day is usually a mess, but they start to get the hang of it by the second day. You have to continually bring them to the potty. By day 4 we were out of the house with underwear on. It was the best thing I did!
