NPR: Italian/pizza and Chinese restaurants in east setauket
What do you think are the best Italian/pizza and Chinese restaurants (for take out) in east setauket? Looking to get a couple gift cards for some friends, but don't want to ask them which places they like bc that will give away the surprise!

Marios in early setauket on 25A is really good. Also, if your looking for not just food, Madrian, the wine bar recently opened and the wine and food is amazing

We loved Luigis for pizza/Italian. Very popular place for take out and casual eat-in. It's in the shopping center with King kullen on 25a.

for Chinese, I would go with Eastern Pavilion. I always felt they were the best in that area. I agree Mario's is pretty good for Italian. Ol Sol Mio is in my opinion the best italian in that area. That's where my family/friends and I used to go all the time when I lived in E. Setauket. Ol Sol Mio isn't in E. Setauket. It's in Stony Brook, the next town over.
ETA that I moved several years ago so I don't know if any of those restaurants even still exist.

I had lunch (pizza) at Luigi's today. It was very good. I've also eaten at Eastern Pavillion which is also very good. Neither place is fancy or upscale in the least, but the food is good.
