NPR - Wineries/Restaurants out east question

We're thinking of taking a ride out on the North Fork tomorrow. Usually we go out to Montauk but decided to go somewhere different. What are some good wineries out East? Also, I've heard of a restaurant called Claudios in Greenport. Anyone been there? Good/bad? We usually go to Duck Walk, the only other one I know of (which is the sister to Duck Walk) is Pindar. Any other restaurants you can recommend? Not too expensive, just a place to stop for a quick meal?

Claudios is a great choice.

This is a printable PDF of all the vineyards out there for you. I love referencing this when I go out east. I think I've been to each one at least twice. Chat Icon

Sparkling Pointe is the most eastward I believe, but it's pretty new and has a gorgeous setting. It's all sparkling wines and I like that as a change.

Martha Clara is good in that they always have some event going on, on the property. (The wines aren't great, but the atmosphere is fun.)

Peconic Bay usually has live music on the weekends too.

Macari, Bedell, and Ackerly Pond are nice too. Raphael has a gorgeous property, but sometimes if they have a private event, you can't taste.

As far as wineries, I like Martha Clara and Vineyard 48.

For restaurants, Claudios is ok, but there's plenty more good ones closer than Greenport that are more central to the wineries. It depends on what you're looking for. There's the Elbow Room in Jamesport which is very casual, for burgers, etc. or Jamesport Country Kitchen. Love Lane Kitchen in Mattituck has outdoor seating, and good food. You can also walk on Love Lane before or after you eat to check out the shops. Legends if off the beaten path in New Suffolk, but is nice now that it's been redone. If you do go to Greenport, I'd go to the Chowder Pot Pub. It's on the water, has outdoor seating, good, inexpensive sandwiches, and may have a band. There's plenty more to go to depending on what you're looking for. It's harvest time out here, so there's tons to do.
