For those of you with boats - questions about infants
Our family keeps a boat in Lake George and we go up a lot throughout the summers. DS is 7 and we've been taking him up since he was about 3, but next year we'll have a 7 month old up there with us. We've never had an infant on the boat with us, so I'm trying to plan ahead for what we will need. We usually find a nice bay and anchor up and float around for the day. Sometimes we get an island pass and dock and picnic for the day.
For those of you with boats, what items did you find the most useful for your infants? I was thinking we will need some sort of portable bassinet or something for them to nap in. Definitely something for them to float in the water with (probably with a little shade). What else am I missing? Also, if you have either the portable bed or floaty, which ones do you have?

Don't have a boat but for a floating type thing- this was great in our pool. And it folds up small to take with you. I loved the canopy too. Target always has them.

Second the swimways float.
Also a coast guard approved life vest of course. On my parents boat I would just use the stroller for naps and overnight we'd use a pnp. We always spend 98% of the time docked so I don't know much about anchoring out. Do they need to be in a life vest during that time?

we had a float (similar to above and we had a police boat one). I assume you already have an infant life vest and that's all we brought.
Towels and sunscreen. We have a small cabin that we would try and get him to sleep in but if there is a "party" going on he wanted nothing to do with sleep until we pulled up anchor

Not sure if I am stating the obvious, but the baby will probably need a life jacket.

Yes, I'm doing some research on them now, but since we dont know how much they will weight at that point, I'm not purchasing one just yet. But you're absolutely right - a life jacket is a MUST for all children aboard.

I'd say a life jacket is the most important thing. We vacationed at a lake house last year and got our 14 month old one. I kept him in it whenever we were near/in the water. No floats for him!
