Virus with VERY high fever going around?

For the past two weeks my nephews have been sick. First the older one got it and now the little one has it. They are running very high fevers (like 104.5) for multiple days. My older nephew had it for about 6 days and the little one is now on day 5. Dr thinks it is a virus that just has to run its course. Is this something that's been going around? So worried about them and worried that my LO is next to get it, God forbid. We are always around them.

2 weeks ago DD had a virus with a high fever- like over 103 that would spike, go away with motrin, spike again.
It lasted about 5 days.
Definitely some bad viruses going aroudn right now.
I am in bed right now with one myself.

I know that coxsackie is going around, which often causes a high fever for a few days. Some kids get the red, pimple-like bumps on their hands, feet, and mouth, but the virus manifests itself in others with very little outward symptoms (just high fever and general fussiness).

Yep coxasackie is going around like wild fire. I would watch out for mouth sores. Hope your lo feels better!

Yes. Dd1 had it. Her fever very high from about Saturday until it broke Tuesday. Even after Motrin it was still 103.

She also tested positive for strep tho.

DD1 had pretty high fevers from Wednesday through Friday night. Dr said it was her throat, likely viral, not strep.

DD had an awful virus for the last month with on and off fevers as high as 104. She would shiver violently when the temp went up and I was afraid she was about to have a febrile seizure. I'm pretty sure she caught it at school so it's going around.

My son's slp just told me her daughter had this for a week!

Yes! A child in one of our classes had 107. Yes, 107!!! He went to the ER. He's fine now but ahhhh

Yes, DS had it last week. 104 fever WITH Motrin, for 3 days. He now has a nasty runny nose and his appetite is blah.

Last month dd had a 105 and was hospitalized for three days. It's rough.

Fever can be scary but unless it reaches 107 its typically not harmful. My first son would always run 104.4 for viruses. And he tolerated the fever just fine. But my middle son became lethargic with a 102 after vaccinations which was way scarier. It's always how they tolerate the fever. Hydration is of course key! Changes in behavior are always something to look for with fevers. I try not to get too scared of them anymore, I know its actually a healthy sign that the body is fighting infection.

And yes, the dreaded coxsackie is going around...my little guy has a fever right now and complaining his mouth hurts. I graduate nursing school today and contemplating a quick doctors visit before it lol

Both of my kids had/have it. Little one had it last week with temp of 104 for 6 straight days. Strep negative.
Older one just started with a temp today.

my 3 1/2 year old dd had this virus 2 weeks ago. She had a fever for 5 days. We saw the DR 2x during those 5 days. She also had a bad cough. I was so worried and concerned the entire time. especially since she wont take motrin!! finally the fevers subsided. the cough lasted a few days afterwards. a friend in her class got the same virus a few days after my daughter did. it was the worst because there were no meds that could take care of this as it was a virus and we had to just ride it out. my dd would just lay on the couch or bed all day long.

My son is getting over a super high fever. It went up to 104.7 and did not go down with meds. It lasted almost 3 days and then suddenly broke Saturday. He developed a rash so based on that symptom he had roseola.

Did they develop rashes?
