Musical Instrument Gift Ideas
My nephew is turning 1 and I am doing a musical instrument themed gift. (My BIL and SIL are totally on board with the idea). SO far the items I am considering are
and maybe this musical mat
Do you think the b toys are better then say Melissa and Doug? Or would you stick with something more classic looking?
Also, anything else you can think of to add to the theme of the present or to add to the gift?
Since it is a 1st bday I want it to be special.

Musical Instrument Gift Ideas
As someone who has a million musical toys, I just want to say recorders are HORRIBLE!!!!!!! The noise that comes out of them is intolerable and I can tolerate noise- we have a drum set, gathering drums (definitely something to look into- these are so much fun!), guitars, pianos, percussion, etc. Play guitars are always a hit (we have 3 and about 10 real guitars and the boys are always drawn to the play ones just as much as the real ones). We have the b toys drum with the instruments inside and it's cute- not very noisy. My boys love their gathering drums, actual keyboard, and we have a recording studio from Vtech that is adorable and a HUGE hit- it would be perfect for a first birthday!

Dd has the b. Toys cat keyboard and loves it. I've also give the b. Toys dog guitar and everyone raves about it.
B toys also makes a drum that is filled with other instruments which would make a great gift.
All are available at target.
Edit. Just saw the drum in your post. That's the one dd has and loves it.
All are great options.

We have the cat piano and both girls love it! It's taken a beating too and still works perfectly after 2.5 years of abuse. My ils have a different Melissa and doug set with the triangle, symbols, etc which is cute but they usually lose interest in it after a few minutes each time they play with it.
