Mothers Day - split up for visiting?

Just wondering if you see both sides of the family for Mothers Day?
Our famililes are in Westhcester and LI. This year, we have family party day before so to me - we have MIL covered - agree? THen I want to go to LI and see my mom on actual Sunday. But sometimes DH still says he wants to go see his Mommy too.

I usually see my mom on Sat & MIL on Sunday after going to brunch with DH & kids. It just works out best for us this way bc my MIL lives very close to us and my mom doesn't.

We get lucky...we have a crappy relationship with MIL so our weekend is spent with a family bbq with my mom (and grandmother, aunts, etc) on Saturday and Sunday is my day to spend with dh and our kids

My parents live 2 hours from us, and my in laws live 4.5 hours from us. So we have to split holidays- we never see both sides on the holiday. So I agree that seeing your mil the day before counts Chat Icon you do what you have to do...

Mothers Day - split up for visiting?

Once I became a mom, I did what I wanted to do. If it meant splitting from DH, so be it!!

DH's parents are divorced. His mom spends Mother's Day with my family at a brunch. And his dad and stepmom come to my family's Father's Day BBQ. So we see both sides for both holidays.

Mothers Day - split up for visiting?

My parents are in FL so we don't have the issue of which parent to see or split but Since having DS I put myself as a priority. Last year I was on a business trip for Mother's Day So DH did't have to worry about it and this year I am taking DS to see my mom in FL. Again DH won't have to worry about it.

If you have a party the day before Mother's Day and you'll be seeing MIL then, I wouldn't go out of my way to see her again on Sunday. That seems unnecessary to me.

After my first Mother's Day which was hell, this is what I do now. It's also my day now. Call me selfish, but I don't want to have to run around and share my kids on Mother's Day. We can do something with our families the day before or something.

Mothers Day - split up for visiting?

Once I had Dd I gave myself Mother's Day.

Last year we saw my mom the day before, and my mil isn't really into Mother's Day. We see her almost every day any way, but we don't do anything to really celebrate. My mom gave me grief last year, but she had 27 years of mothers days dedicated solely to her. It's my turn lol

We host brunch here at our house. It's so easy and I do most of the prep the night before. Both families come here and then they're gone by 2pm and I have the rest of the day to do what I want Chat Icon

Same here. My mom sees him 2+ times a week and my mother in law sees him every Saturday. Mother's Day we do something nice together as our little family of three. Last year we went to brunch at the place we got married, I hope they do it again this year!!
