How old is too old

Hi looking for some words of wisdom or advice. Thinking of having a third child but I'm 39 and nervous maybe I'm too old to do it again. Are there any moms that had kids at 40 or know people that did...I guess I keep thinking of wanting to make sure I get to see all my kids get married have their own kids...my kids now are 3 and 5 so it's not like there would be a huge age gap between all of them. Thanks for any input!

I hate to say it but no matter when you have your kids that's not guaranteed so for me, that wouldn't be a reason to not have kids. Anything can happen at any age.

My mom missed my wedding and me having kids....

I know it is far from the norm, but a very good friend of mine had her first (and only -very healthy) at 47! I also have 2 friends who are single moms by choice and both had their babies in their early 40's. My cousin had her 3rd (now 13 yr old) at 43

And as PP stated, there are never any guarantees. My dad passed away when my brother and I were very young. I wouldn't let fear of not seeing them get married etc stop you.

Older mom's are the norm now. Everyone I know is having kids in their late 30's and early 40s. If you are healthy go for it.

I turned 39 yesterday and am having #3 in July. My sister had her 4th at 39. And I have a friend that had her first last year at 43. If you want another go for it. Don't let age stop you.

I had my DS at 39 and am now 43 - i do feel a little old to have another, but that's also because i don't really want one. If i did, my age wouldn't stop me.

If you're physically able and your dr says you're fine.. why not?

Dh's father missed everything - hs graduation on up, DH was 16 when he passed, he was early 50's. There are no guarantees, my father was 44 and sm was 40 when they had my sis. I say if you want it try!

I was 41 when I had my second. It's definitely doable. Sleep deprivation sucks---even more so at 41, but then again it sucks at any age, no?

Yes---we will likely be the oldest parents in the bunch....but it doesn't make us any less parents. We do all the same stuff. Do I fatigue easier, maybe? But my boys don't know be difference!

We are thinking about a third and I will most likely be 40, give or take a bit, if/when that happens. I would've liked to be younger but it's not how it happened for us. I also have a couple of cousins who had kids at 41/42.

If you really want another, I would not let age deter you.

I got pregnant with my 4th at 39 but unfortunately i had a miscarriage. The rate of MC at this age is definitely higher and there are other risks but I wouldn't let that stop you. If you want a third I would go for it. After the MC I tried again for a little to get pregnant and it didn't happen. Now my youngest is 4 and The age gap would be too large from my other three and I feel too old to do a 4th so we are sticking with 3.

I think it really depends on the person and the situation. I had my DD at 38, my sis had her DS at 40.
However, I work FT and am utterly EXHAUSTED when I get home. So much so that I feel horrible if I'm too tired to play with DD. I push myself, but it's hard. Would I be tired if I were 25? 30? 35? Probably. But, I feel because I'm older, I'm that much more tired. Just my opinion.
If you're healthy, have energy, etc - I say go for it.

I just had my3rd at 38 and 4th at 40. It is a little harder the older we get but it never crossed my mind when having kids that I would be an older mom lol. If you want one go for it and don't let age stop you.

My mom had me at 41 shes a grandma 7 times over.

My friend had her 1st at 40 and is pregnant with her second at almost 42.

I am 42 and would gladly have another if it were in the cards. My DH is going to be 50 this year, though, and he really is hesitant.
As for parents missing out, there is no guarantee. My Dad lost BOTH his parents when he was 17 and they were not old, per se. My DH's mom dies when he was 16 and she was in her 40's.

Had my third at 38.
Can't really answer how old is too old... But my personal limit was 40.
My pregnancy at 38 was rough, delivery too. Personally, I think my body is done.

I had my first at 38 and my second 2 weeks before I turned 40. I would gladly have another (I'm 41 now).

I had my first at 36 and am PG now with #2 - I'm 41, will be 42 when I deliver. My first pregnancy and so far this one *knock wood* have been extremely uneventful. I have a bunch of friends actually that are PG right now.

If you are healthy and your doctor gives you the go ahead, I see no reason to not try. We knew for us that we wanted no medical intervention, so if it didn't happen naturally for us, we would have just had our one DS.

If you feel healthy I don't see why not. Many people by he time they are 40 have older kids by then so if you have friends who are not in the same place as you are with kids, sometimes it is harder. I see the older parents who miss out on many things because they need a sitter or can't stay at things because they have younger kids. It all depends on your lifestyle.
