Switching from formula to milk
When you switched, how did you wean them off? Did you start by switching 1 oz of milk, the rest formula and gradually increasing the milk? Cant remember with my first granddaughter, but we're ready to wean the second baby in a week. My daughter will call the ped to ask, but I was just curious. My older granddaughter has food allergies (not to milk) so I think the dr. will be extra cautious with this one, just in case.

Re: Switching from formula to milk
I did 1 oz milk to the rest formula for about a week, then 2 oz milk to the rest formula for another week, etc I did it slow because I was worried she'd have stomach issues, she always did. It worked fine

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering how to do the same for my twins. At what age did you start. My girls will be 10 months tomorrow.
TIA!

Re: Switching from formula to milk
We started at a year and 2 oz milk, 6 oz formula. We stayed there for a few days and then kept increasing the milk by 2 oz every few days.

Around 11 months so that by the time she was 1, we were pretty much fully on milk

Re: Switching from formula to milk
Our dr recommended over 3 days, so that's what we did and it went very smooth.
day 1: 1/3 milk 2/3 formula day 2: 2/3 milk 1/3 formula day 3; all milk

Same. We waited until a year to do this because he had a milk protein allergy and was prescription formula. We weren't certain he would be able to tolerate milk. Luckily, he did just fine.

Switching from formula to milk
Remember to make sure your child is eating a balanced diet before making the switch. Formula/BM is a meal. Milk is a drink that accompanies a meal.

Re: Switching from formula to milk
Both kids, cold turkey. I just finished off the last can of formula and went right over to all milk. They both did fine, they liked it, and had no issues.
ETA - My DD switched at a year old. My DS pretty much took himself off formula at 10 months, he never really liked it so he was happy to get milk.
