I would switch too. The fact that they could not bother to follow up with you or the other physicians is deeply disturbing. I would actually call the state licensing board, as it is negligent on their part to not follow up with another physician for a patient under their care.

I'd switch. There would be too much second guessing everything after all of this. Trust would be lost.
That coupled with the lack of communication would be it for me. I don't care if they can't practice in that office, they can call.

I happen to agree with everything blackjack said... However, switching switching offices (personally) would have very little to do with actually incompetence in this situation and more to do with personal confidence. I don't know if I would be happy with how this was handled, forget about your dd being visited have any of the peds called you? That sort of thing. If I thought there was actual incompetence or malintent, I would be talking to a lawyer.... But I don't think that is the situation here.
Personally, because I would feel my confidence was lost and because I didn't feel they followed up adequately, I would likely be looking for a new practice. Ask the PICU nurses, they will know the good ones for sure. (Gotta love our NICU and PICU nurses!)

I would switch because I would always second guess them and the care my children were getting from then on. I need to be able to trust my doctor.

I will say this: Mine always runs labs. Also, I have a friend who uses the same practice as mine whose child was recently hospitalized for several days, and she said the peds were there several times a day and called her frequently for check-ins with her. She was overwhelmed by their support medically and emotionally.
Also,,do you think you will be able to move past this and trust them in the future, just having gone through this? That's only a question yiu can answer.
