Would you expect a reimbursement?
Our burner stopped working. The oil tank is underground, so it's hard to tell the amount of oil in the tank. DH went on COD fuel and placed a same day order for 100 gallons. I was home and saw the oil company truck put the reciet in our mailbox. I attempted to restart the burner, nothing. DH had me check the mailbox for the service ticket/receipt and it was there along with TWO other people's service receipt. The reciept in the mailbox means oil has been delivered. I tell him I'll call the oil company about the other tickets while he contacted the plumber about the burner.
The oil company rep was shocked about the extra tickets in my mailbox. Turns out the driver put them in there and didn't deliver them oil. Odd, but whatever. I put them back in the mailbox and about 20 mins see the SAME oil truck driver take the two tickets out of my mailbox. DH has the plumber come for an emergency service call.
Long story short, after 30 mins of taking apart the furnace, the service tech realizes we don't have any oil. I call the oil company and after back and forth with them, they admit the driver didn't deliver oil ( even though the ticket was in the mailbox) and don't have an explanation about why there would be a ticket in there.
I had to pay the service tech $140 on-call for nothing.
They send a different driver back to deliver oil and the guy explained the originally driver was new and part time and he messed up. The guy offered to start my burner to make sure we had heat. He pressed the button and it instantly restarted. We had run out of oil.
I've been on the phone with the oil company, Wise Choice, getting the run around about obtaining a reimbursement for the on call fee I paid because THEIR driver didn't do his job, not once, but twice. Why would there be a reciept ticket in my mailbox if he didn't deliver?
Would you let this go, or would you stay on top of them for a refund of my on call service call?

Re: Would you expect a reimbursement?
Of course I would demand a reimbursement. That is ridiculous and you shouldn't be charged for it.

Threaten to call the media, 7 on your side, Help me Howard, etc. If that doesn't get your money back, make sure you follow thru with the threat. Your other recourse is small claims court.

When we had the underground tank we would always stake the take (stick measuring stick in) before calling for service. This was to avoid unneeded service calls. I would expect them to give you the amount of the service call but something for the complete mess up of the delivery.

Oh helll no!! You deserve that money back. I read the post fast. Did this new driver leave a ticket in your mailbox that he delivered oil to you but never did?!

Re: Would you expect a reimbursement?
Honestly, I'd try for reimbursement, but it's probably going to be a lot of hassle.
This is why we pay for a contract. It protects us from any of these kinds of issues.

I must be in the minority but I would not expect a reimbursement. I would just be happy that I have hot water.
