Party-how old?
Just curious how old your kiddies were when you first took them to a party with other children? We're invited to a party when dd will be 11 weeks. She's had her first set of shots. I'm a little neurotic and really don't want to bring her but I also know I can't keep her in a bubble forever.

Party-how old?
We were at parties... We also spent time at Orzac rehab center visiting my grandmother in the lobby by about 11/12 weeks old. He was already in daycare by 9 weeks.

Re: Party-how old?
We took my dd at 3 weeks to my cousins graduation party. We only stayed a short while because it was very crowded and mostly outdoors. As long as you don't allow the baby to be passed all over the place I think it's fine.

DS was 3 weeks old at his first birthday party. He was pretty much I his car seat the entire time. I took him on his first outing at 1 week old to target!

I took my DS everywhere starting within days of getting out of the hospital. I never kept him away from people.

Re: Party-how old?
We went to a family party around 9 weeks. I was very nervous about it being flu season. I don't know if it's just DH's family (they have very few boundaries) but all the kids were trying to touch the baby. I had to keep saying no touching. Then I got put on the spot with people wanting to hold him. DS was fine but really, I wish I had just skipped it. I know we can't keep them in a bubble forever but their immune systems just aren't fully developed.

This is EXACTLY my situation and what will go on at the party, which is why I'm concerned.

In that case, I would skip it. I don't think anyone would blame you. With all the illnesses going around lately, better safe then sorry.

If it's flu season and you think others will get close, I'd stay home.

Re: Party-how old?
DD was 3.5 weeks old when we took her to a 3 year old bday party (that my older DS was invited to). I was much more lenient about our second.

Re: Party-how old?
Around 8-9 months. We were the first to have kids and didn't know any other kids until after we had our DS.
Younger DS has probably tagged along birthday parties since he was about 3-4 months.
We had a 3 week old attend one of our parties. My good friend had just given birth and we were the first outing she did with her then 3yo and newborn.

I would be very careful since RSV is rampant this winter. My dd got it from her sister who just had a cold. I have my nephews christening when dd turns 3 months and she will go out for that but kept covered and nominee will be able to touch her. Trust me with what I am going through right now,my out are not being neurotic.
