Best vehicle and car seat combo for 3 LO?
Will be getting a new vehicle and 3 new car seats for it. Will need 2 convertibles (1 rear facing) and an infant seat. Will need to get in to buckle all 3.
Looking for the easiest way - is that having 3 seats across, 1 in 3rd seat, 2 in middle?
We have 2 Britax seats in our other car now, but I'm open to other brands if they fit better.
For the vehicle, I haven't looked in a few years, but I'm thinking I want a minivan for the space. But if something else is easier to get the kids in and out, I'll go with that. Thanks!

We have a GMC Acadia with captain chairs.
I like it (the configuration and the SUV configuration)!
We have 2 harness boosters & 1 infant seat

We just picked up our mini van tonight! It's great!! Three years ago I swore no one would catch me driving one, but tonight I was super excited! There is sooo much room in it! Whatever you choose make sure you can put a car seat in the third row if that's the plan. We learned that not every car with a third row has tether anchors for convertible car seats. Even some mini vans only have one in the back row. From my research the Honda oddessey you can fit 5 car seats. The Toyota Sienna fits 4. I forget which one only fits three. We got the Toyota. some suv's you can't use the third row at all.

Avoid the town & country and caravan. The 3rd row belt configuration is not safe for children and even some adults.

I have an explorer - I like having them close to me - they are all in 2nd row - I had 2 infants and a brix boulevard, now I have 2 Dionos rear facing and 1 britax boulevard

Thanks. I didn't realize those were still being made. I always thought the stow and go was super convenient and would make getting to the back row very easy to buckle kids in (stowing 1 middle row seat). What about using Latch in the 3rd row?
I was reading online a couple days ago that the third row of SUVs can be unsafe in a rear end collision. Something about closeness to back of vehicle and also the seat design. Do you know if the minivan 3rd row is much better?

How many total seats? We are thinking GMC for our next SUV, just not sure which model. I definitely want a third row.

We have 3 kids in carseats and just leased the Honda Odyssey. Since mine are all 3 and under we have all 3 of them in the middle row so its easy to buckle them in. I have 2 in forward facing Britax carseats ad one in the infant carseat. It does make the 3rd row inaccessible but we don't really need it right now and if we do we can move one of the carseats back there.

In the T&C and caravan there is one offset center lower anchor & top tether point. But the side seat belts aren't safe really.
The 3rd row isn't safe theory is a bit unfounded. It's like saying the backseat is unsafe in a smaller car that has a small trunk. Personally I don't hold much with it. I have a Chevy Traverse and have one of my 3 (and will have 2 of my 4 come July) in the 3rd row. I have no additional concerns about it over the ones that I would have in any vehicle.

We have the Odyssey mini van. I have 1 seat in the 2nd row and 2 seats in the third row. I never thought I would own a mini van but we really needed it with the 3rd. It is so convenient.

We haven't put in the car seats yet but I'm pretty sure that we could either fit three across the second row or put one in the third. I will do whatever is safest and I have also read about the concerns regarding the third row not being so safe. I've also heard questions about the center child possibly not being as safe with three across.
I'm going to go to the place where we usually have our seats installed and ask their opinion.

Just a side note, as a certified technician it bugs me.... up to date certified technician should NOT just be installing your seats and sending you on your way. Ypu should always know how to and feel comfortable in installing your own seats and getting a good install with them. You never know what might happen that you may need to. And if you don't know, then that's obviously not good.

That is a good point. I just edited my post because I didn't recall them showing us but DH thinks they did. I did go to have them moved once the the tech told me that the prior tech hadn't technically installed the seat correctly the first time. Very frustrating.
I finally did learn the trick to getting them in tight over the summer when I got DD a new seat for DH's car. The thing is, DH isn't very handy and while I am, the techs can always get them in tighter than I can, even with me kneeling on the seats and everything else I've watched them do. I've also had them add things (slide guards under the seats, pool noodles so that the seat would sit correctly) that I wouldn't have known to do.

How many total seats? We are thinking GMC for our next SUV, just not sure which model. I definitely want a third row.
Seats 7.
The third row is big (comfy for an adult).
Trunk space is not great, but better than the Yukon (surprisingly).
Happy with the car overall... Did a lease though. It's a bit buggier than my last car (Lexus), but the price difference is big too.

We have an odyssey - we took the middle seat in the second row out so you can easily get to the back row. We have the two younger ones on the second row and the older one in the back.
