anyone go six hours between pumping?
i think im pumping too much, before i really need to..and that's what's giving me clogs. and then my boob underproduces.
i want to change my pumping schedule at work, but it'll put me about 6 hours between pumps.
i mean, i go that long at night

Re: anyone go six hours between pumping?
How many times are u pumping? Are u offering ur lo ur breast as well?
If u're pumping enough to feed ur lo throughout the day or to build a small stash, I wouldn't worry about underproducing, especially if u offer ur lo ur breast a few times throughout a 24 hr period. Also don't pump for long periods of time, it's better to keep them short (like 15-20 min) and have several pumping sessions through the day. This is to avoid clogs and undersupply, although I do believe the mouth of ur lo will do a much a better job at supply/demand and also avoiding clogged ducts.
Keep in mind that your breasts will produce the milk that is needed for your lo so the more u pump, even better the more your lo nurses directly from you, the more your breast will produce milk, that's the beauty of supply and demand. Also keep urself well hydrated, this also helps a lot.

anyone go six hours between pumping?
I pumped/nursed on this schedule til DS was a year.
5:30 am - pump 6:20 - nurse 9-10 - pump 12 - pump 4:30 - never ending nursing session 7:30 - nurse Overnight - nursed as needed
At 12 months, I dropped the 9-10 am pump. At 13 months, I dropped the 6 am pump. At 14 months, I dropped the 12 pm pump.

If it doesn't hurt you to go that long without pumping & you're getting out enough milk for the baby, then I think it's fine.

Re: anyone go six hours between pumping?
I think that's going to affect your supply. I don't know how often or long you pump, but try spacing it out a little longer, maybe 30-60 minutes. I think 6 hours is too long to go during the day if you're trying to maintain your supply. Your body isn't going to produce as much milk.
