I want to move
I hate Riverhead.
1st - hooker stabbed to death less than a mile from my home
2nd - level 3 sex offender less than a mile from my home
3rd - DH's van broken into in the back of our home
4th - read in the paper that there were like 6 kids in the schools caught w weapons
5th - they found a body of a man (saw on News12) less than 2 miles from my home. Cause of death unknown.
I HATE RIVERHEAD!!!! I WANT TO MOVE!!!

If you need to stay out east, the Hamptons have some beautiful and affordable areas. I love it there in the winter. Or go north, near Manorville - very pretty over there.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, but I agree, you should move. What about Rocky Point? Its out there, but very nice, safe and relatively affordable.

I always like Riverhead when we drive out to the outlets. I love the older homes and the old town center, but I am aware that the corrections facility has it's risks attached to it. I'm sorry you are not happy and secure in your neighborhood. My sister just moved to Wading River and it's beautiful! It feels like a town that's very "safe" and it has an excellent school district. That's why she moved there...

great suggestion - rocky point is west of Riverhead - very affordable and a good SD. It is too far out east for me, but I would definiitely live there otherwise

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We are just waiting to have some more money before we actually do move which is killing me. I already have Emma in a preschool in Mattituck, the district we hope hope hope we will move into. It just kills me all this bad stuff happening so close to us.
Funny part... I can see the police station from my bedroom window.
Yes, we have to stay out east, DH works in the Hamptons.

My DH works in the Hamptons too and we live in Islip. It takes him about 40 minutes to Southampton. It's better than going west...

I live in Calverton/Riverhead, and believe me - my neighborhood is NO better! It is totally frustrating at times. I know it's not the "pleasantville" area I was brought up in, but I try to keep a smile on my face and know I won't be here forever!

everytown I think has something. I live in shirley and believe me its not my dream town but for now its what i could afford so my son has a backyard and a beautiful home. I grew up in queenz and lived in an apartment so I never had a backyard or dogs and my son has both I think as parents we do what we have to. my dh has promised me that we will move definately before our kids are in highschool since we havent heard good things about that but for grammar school its fine.

I was going to suggest Mattituck!! My DH grew up there and my inlaws still live there....it is a beautiful town - we love going out there in the summer and fall. My father in law is a retired teacher from Mattituck HS. I know it has gotten very expensive though....good luck!

Ugh, Riverhead is baaad news! We used to live in Manorville- I LOVED it there. If my husband didn't workin Brooklyn, I would want to live out there. Mattituk is awazing, and Wading River is nice, too.
Don't worry- you will escape!!!

Mattituck is beautiful! So is Southold, Baiting Hollow and Laurell to name some others, unfortunately, I don't know where they are pricewise. I think comparable to Mattituck.

1st - hooker stabbed to death less than a mile from my home - ABOUT A YEAR AGO
2nd - level 3 sex offender less than a mile from my home - BEEN THERE FOR A WHILE I GUESS
3rd - DH's van broken into in the back of our home - LAST MONTH
4th - read in the paper that there were like 6 kids in the schools caught w weapons - LAST WEEK
5th - they found a body of a man (saw on News12) less than 2 miles from my home. Cause of death unknown. - WEDNESDAY
