Working moms who get home too late to cook!
Please tell me that I am not the only one! Lol
What do your kids eat for dinner?
Meal prepping at night or weekends is not an option for me as I work at night too!
Please recommend some ready made foods that a 3 and 4 year old will like!
Thanks

Re: Working moms who get home too late to cook!
We eat dinner late at 7pm, so I cook a quick meal when I get home or we have leftovers during the week. DS has a snack usually around 4:30/5 which holds him off till dinner.
He eats what we cook, or has: Dr. Praeger fish sticks Homemade Chicken burger Noodles & veggies Fruit, cheese, veg plate

Re: Working moms who get home too late to cook!
DH and I eat later because he usually doesn't get home until after 8. For DD I'll give her leftovers from the night before or:
Chicken nuggets Hamburger Kielbasa Pasta / pastina
In a pinch I sometimes do breakfast for dinner, eggs sausage and fruit - she loves that.
ETA: my crockpot can also be a lifesaver on some days. Throw everything in either the night before or in the morning and turn it on before I leave and BAM home cooked meal ready when I get home

Working moms who get home too late to cook!
I know you said meal prepping is not an option, but it is a really a life saver for me. Although I get home by 5, my DS can be very needy at times so dinner needs to be ready to go.
On Sunday, I make 2 dishes and those serve as 4 meals during the week. Things like chili, sauce with meatballs and sausage, chicken parm, eggplant parm, meatloaf, etc all reheat well. We also make pizza once a week, which take 25 minutes from start to finish (we buy premade dough). My grocery store also has make and take meals, which require no prep - you just toss them in the oven. My grocery store also sells fried fish dinners (fish of your choosing, fries, and cole claw), which we take advantage of maybe once a month.

Re: Working moms who get home too late to cook!
DD is so picky so even if I cooked early she wouldn't eat what we eat.
She eats:
Grilled Cheese Ham and Cheese sandwich Chicken Nuggets Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches Mac and Cheese
I try to make her eat a single serve of some veges with it- but that is hit or miss

Working moms who get home too late to cook!
We eat late, around 7. We will have: broiled fish with lemon and rice, rotisserie chicken, side of veg. chicken tenders and bread them with bread crumbs and bake them in the oven. I'll make a quick soup, either pasta fagiole, or something brothy. The soups are fresh and really take no time at all. We also do Blue Apron, so DH and I will often eat that by ourselves while DD eats earlier.

Re: Working moms who get home too late to cook!
I crockpot a lot! I also spend a few hours on the weekend cooking meals that reheat well (soups are great for this). I also try to put a portion of a lot of freezable meals away so that I can pull it out and only need to reheat when we are in a rush. We rarely eat take-out.

Crockpot (chicken, pork chops, taco meat, meatballs).
I do usually take time on sat or Sunday and fry chicken cutlet and portion and put in freezer, as well as lasagna. I left it defrost in the fridge during the day- (sauce too) and I put mozz on if and put in oven for 10 minutes while pasta boiled. We have enough for leftovers tomorrow.

This. I cook Sunday for the week, I'll grill up a few pounds of chicken breast, roast some veggies, make a sauce, etc. then I just basically reheat everything that night.

Can you share your crockpot recipes that can go for 12+ hours, I find so many get dry and gross after 6

Sometimes I actually cook the meal at night (or ever overnight) when I am home then put it in the fridge and heat up the next night for dinner. I know what you mean about the over cooking. The meats can get so gross!
Also you might want to get one of the newer ones with a timer. I keep thinking about that option too. Maybe it would help.

BJ's and Costco have lots of ready made things you can just heat and serve.

Does your crockpot have a Timer? If I set mine for say 8 hours but I'm out of the house longer (at least 10), it auto switches to warm so it stops cooking but keeps the food warm.
Chicken tacos are super easy. I can barely boil pasta (seriously) but I can make these. 1lb boneless chicken breast on the bottom, 16oz jar of salsa on top of that, packet of taco seasoning on top of that. Cook on low for 8 hours. Shred with fork when done. Serve with whatever taco toppings you want. Sometimes I'll add a can of corn (drained) and a can of black beans (drained and rinsed) to the crockpot before cooking.

Working moms who get home too late to cook!
I get home at 630ish. We eat at 7ish so I just make anything that will take less than 30 mins which in my house is anything since I'm not a cook I keep everything easy and basic.

Quick and easy ideas: Chicken Cutlets + Veggies and Mac and Cheese or Rice a Roni
Trader Joes has premarinated chicken tenders, beefs and fish - these are go-to in my house (Or you can easily pre marinate the night before).
CrockPot Mac n Cheese (you can easily add / hide butternut squash in it to make it more healthy)
I like Trader Joes Frozen italian style meatballs over pasta and sauce
If your little one likes typical kid fare Chicken Nuggets and Fries Fish Sticks and fries (TJ has zucchini fries if you want a healthier option) Cinnamon French Toast Sticks and Scrambled Egg (Bfast for dinner night) Turkey Hot Dogs (can be done over pasta) Hot Dogs Hamburgers Lasagna or baked ziti (just make in advance and freeze in portions)

Re: Working moms who get home too late to cook!
We spend A LOT of time at Panera!
We also do a lot of pizza, grilled cheeses, scrambled eggs (yes, for dinner!), applegate chicken tenders and veggies, pasta and veggies, black beans and grilled chicken (from the deli), etc.
My mom also takes pity on us and stocks my fridge with homemade meals from time to time.
I love to cook, I just don't have any time to do it.
