dwindling milk supply or no?

the past few days, i am not getting nearly as much as i used to when i pump. i would normally get about 3 oz per breast, now it's at about 1!

dd is still getting milk when i nurse (i see it on her lips or when she opens her mouth).. although sometimes she's been nursing longer than usual.

she's 10.5 weeks.

someone told me that if im stressed about pumping it actually decreases supply...so i dont know if thats true.

any info? ways to increase it? or just wait it out and see how i do the next few days, keeping to my normal schedule?

i go back to work in 2 weeks and want to be sure ill have enough for her each day.

Have you gotten AF? Maybe it's on the way? Is it a significant drop? Or just a couple of ounces?

Try power pumping- 20 mins on, 10 off, 10 on, 10 off, 10 on.

Also try nursing more.

Stress can definitely affect output. You can always try steel cut oatmeal, making a batch of lactation cookies, drinking mothers milk tea...

Your supply could also be dwindling if you are getting your period.
Drink plenty of water
People also suggested more milk plus and fenugreek tea

Re: dwindling milk supply or no?

Your supply is probably just regulating itself now. If your daughter is nursing, she is probably taking all the milk she needs and then you just have a little bit left over.

Have her nurse more and your supply should increase. Power Pumping is another option. If you have the baby with you, I'd just nurse and not worry about pumping.

ETA - if you are nursing and pumping during the day there is no way your current pumping situation will accurately reflect your true supply when you go back to work. Try not to stress it. Once you go back to work, it'll all work out - says the lady who is still nursing a 19 month old and pumped for 14 months. The first few weeks back at work will definitely be met with a learning curve. If you want any advice, let me know.

Also, try replacing the membranes on your pump. Surfing about pumping wouldn't be affecting your supply so much as just affecting how much you pump. If you are stressing, you may not get as many letdowns. Try to relax, drink lots of water, eat good oats not just instant. I would think it's also just your supply regulating to match baby's needs rather than having a large oversupply.

Eating steal cut oats and drinking special teas for nursing mothers can help increase your supply. Also as already mentioned, make sure you are drinking lots of water. I know my supply used to dwindle when I didn't drink enough water. I used to have to drink a minimum of 64 oz of water to keep my supply up. It was mostly in the form of mothers tea.
Good Luck!

Fenugreek pills helped me. But start slowly - they can affect your belly.

Emotions play a huge part in supply

You could try drinking mothers milk tea, lactation cookies, fenugreek supplements

I can't stress enough how important it is to change the membranes. Every time I saw a decrease in supply through pumping, it was because the membranes started to get a pin sized hole. It makes a huge difference. Also be sure that you have the right flange size - it actually had little to do with breast size.

100% agree. I used to have to replace my membranes every 2 months. Also make sure they are completely dry before using them.

Otherwise, increase your water intake, mother's milk tea & oatmeal (not the instant) always helped me.
