If you have 3 kids...

Did you find it harder going from 1 to 2 kids or 2 to 3 kids? Everyone told me that going from 2 to 3 was easier but I'm finding it much harder!

As I recall, they were about the same. IMO, no transition was even close to as difficult as from zero to one!

Re: If you have 3 kids...

I thought 1 to 2 was harder than 2 to 3. I think it will also vary on the personalities of your kids and the age gaps

Each transition was hard, but 2 to 3 is really hard - you are outnumbered!

I feel exactly the same way! Though, my husband always says it was harder going to 3. He hates being outnumbered. He stresses more than I do, though. 3 is definitely more of a juggling act, and I think everyone's varied experience will depend a lot on the age difference between kids and the temperament of each child.

I have 4. I thought going from 2 to 3 was the easiest. Probably because of the ages of my older 2. They were 4 and 6 when #3 was born and in school all day. It really wasn't that bad.

I went from 0 to 2 and then 2 to 3 and I feel that going from 2 to 3 was harder then 0 to 2!

exactly this!

but I will say the transition wasn't hard when #3 was a baby....it got harder when he got mobile, had an opinion and learned how to say mom.

Much harder going from 2 to 3.

My oldest two are 12 months apart! Yes, it was hard, but they were both babies! When they were 1 and 2, that was much harder.

I then went on to have 3 under 3, so in my case adding the 3rd was much harder as we were outnumbered and they would all cry at the same time and I didn't know where to turn at times!!

Probably depends on age separation.

0-1 huge adjustment: total lifestyle change
1-2 big adjustment: I thought I had it hard before... No more free time, when one naps, the other needs me! Please stop trying to kill your bro/sis
2-3 : I had another kid? You sure?

Honestly, at kid 3, I really have it down!

Re: If you have 3 kids...

0-1 was earth shattering to me. It was a very hard transition. 1-2 wasn't hard ( besides my DD being born with health issues) but I think that's because there is a 3.5 year age difference. It was a lot like having one child but knowing what you're doing. 2-3 has been hard, but I think it is because my younger two are 2 under 2.

Re: If you have 3 kids...

honestly it was pretty easy. But we really didn't have a hard time adding any of them.

ds#1 was 6 1/2 and ds#2 was a little more than 2 1/2 when #3 came along.

Hey i'd add #4 into the mix if my husband allowed me to. Chat Icon

I totally agree with this except my #1 & #2 are closer in age.

If you have 3 kids...

My three are very spread out. DS is 15, DD1 is 9, and DD2 is 6. But going from 2 to 3 was HELL for me. It was really bad for us, and that is the reason we do not have 4 kids like we originally wanted!

Thanks all. There are days I feel like I'm going to lose my mind. 2-3 is def hands down the hardest. I just have to tell myself that it will get better.

Ditto. I'm due with my 3rd in 5 weeks. My oldest just turned 3 in November and I have a 17 month old. I wake up in the middle of the night having anxiety about how I'm going to handle it all. Some of the posts are reassuring, but some are scaring me as well.

You will be ok! Mine were 20 months and 2.5 when my third was born! I made it!!!! lol. My mother came to help for a few days when I came home from the hospital and I was terrified of being on my own with them. I remember feeling so intimidated! It was not so bad, but someone was always crying and couldn't get tendered to right away! We are all used to this by now as it's still hard with an almost 2, 3, and 4 year old.
