3 1/2 Mo DS not Napping

3 1/2 mo DS has pretty much been a hot mess the last 9 days. No idea what's going on. He's not napping! Today was the worst. 20 min nap around 11a. Fell asleep in the car on an errand for 5 mins around 1p and then another short 20 min nap at 6:30p. No swing, RNP, etc. He's been sleeping long stretches through the night, I'm sure because of the lack of sleep during the day.

Can it be teething already?! He's drooling like crazy and shoving his hands in his mouth. Won't take a paci or any teethers we've tried. I'm seriously at my wit's end. I can't take any more days like today, esp with an active toddler. Any thoughts?

My DS is the same way. He is 4 months and the doctor said that he is teething.

I've found that music helps when nothing else works. I bought a small radio that my ipod connects to and i put on a jazz or other instrumental station through Pandora. I massage his gums with my finger and it calms him down enough to sleep.

Also, if he won't stay in the RNP or swing, try putting him in the high chair. Most high chairs recline back so that its ok for infants to sit in. Sometimes my DS likes to watch me in the kitchen cooking or cleaning and I play silly games with him.

Short naps are typical for 3.5 mo. Nap consolidation usually doesn't happen until closer to 6 months.

If he's sleeping well at night, I would be happy!

DS was the same way when teething. He wouldn't take his pacifier or any sort of teether. He wouldn't nap until I started using the Hyland's Baby Teething Tablets. They are a lifesaver. I was so afraid to give it to him at first, but they dissolve as soon as they hit his mouth and they calm him enough so he can nap.

It could be anything. They tend not to sleep before they learn something new also.

Honestly I would just try to roll with it. when they are babies if its not one thing its another....we tend to drive ourselves crazy trying to find out why.
