Dentist for Kids
How old was your child when you first took him/her to the dentist?

Re: Dentist for Kids
We started really early. DS was 10 months old - already had a few teeth. He did really well as did my DD who started around the same age. They're both really good with the dentist and hygienist now since they're so used to seeing them. But maybe it's just our dentist?

Dentist for Kids
dd1-3 dd2-2 yrs old b/c dd1 went. I regretted dd2 b/c she was so young and hated every moment of it. DD2 was much better at 2 1/2. I say 3 is a good age to start

Re: Dentist for Kids
i have an appt scheduled for DD next month...she is almost 3. Depending how well she does, i will consider making an appt for my son when he turns 2 instead of waiting til 3.

Re: Dentist for Kids
At his 3 year well visit, DS' pediatrician suggested we take him to a dentist, so we took him shortly after that.

DD didn't even have ANY teeth at 10 months.

Re: Dentist for Kids
My first two went to a pediatric dentist and they wanted to see them at 18 months...we now use a family dentist and she wants to see my youngest when she is about 4...the hygenist also works at a pediatric practice and told me her opinion is that they don't need to come in that early...they didn't even clean my kids' teeth, just looked at them, but be assured, my insurance was charged for a cleaning!

Re: Dentist for Kids
3 1/2 bc he chipped a tooth, I didn't feel they did anything and we will wait a year to go back. My DH's uncle is a dentist, and feels the pediatric dentist isn't really necessary and that we didn't need to go as they don't do much for a chipped tooth that's going to fall out anyway.

Ding ding ding! It's all about the benjamins at that age. They are running a business. Next thing they will be telling you to bring them in at 6 months old- teeth or not!

Dentist for Kids
DD1- was between 3 & 3.5. I regret waiting so long as she had issues at that point.
DS went the day after his 2nd birthday and then again at 3 (and every 6 months after)
DD2 went at 18 months because she has a lip tie issue that needs to be monitored. She's gone every 6 months since

Yep, it wouldn't make much sense if they don't have teeth at that age! But, I'm covered through insurance (I know, I'm fortunate) so I didn't mind getting them used to it.
