Car seat help?
I need a new car seat. My son is out growing his infant seat. I thought of giving him my DD's convertible seat (evenflo symphony 65) and getting DD (3ys old 30 lb) a harnessed booster but when I look at her I just feel she still needs the protection of a real car seat or am I overthinking this? Is a harnessed booster the same thing as a 5 pt harness or should I just buy my son a new convertible seat. I really need to buy this but our budget is very tight. I'd like to not spend over $100. Anyone have any suggestions on a seat they like that is budget-friendly?

Car seat help?
What are his stats (height weight age) the Symphony is typically outgrown early for rear facing.
As far as a combination seat being less protection then a convertible, that is not true at all.
Two budget friendly swats you could look at for her is the new Graco Tranzitions or the Evenflo Transitions (SO confusing they have the same name!!)

Re: Car seat help?
Look on woot.com. they sometimes have car seats. They had the myride65 recently and the graco nautilus too.

I got the graco argos 3-in-1 seat for my almost 3yo Your looking at more like $160 though in terms of pricing but its a combination seat so it will hopefully be the last one I need for her

Car seat help?
My 3.5 year old (36 in and 32 lbs) is in the Graco 3-in-1 Nautilus Booster. She is still in the harness, not the seatbelt.

Re: Car seat help?
Sorry to hijack but I keep seeing people referring to harnessed boosters.
But all boosters I have seen are for use with the seat belt.
What is a harnessed booster seat?
Is it just a combo seat that converts
So confused.

Yes; it is just a combo seat that converts. It is a high back booster with harness, that converts to a booster seat which gets used with the seatbelt

Thank you he is about 24 inch and 18 lbs he still fits the seat but it's heavy so I want to get something for DH car and just continue using the infant seat as a car seat in my until he outgrows.
What do you think about something like this for my 3 yo?

It is but the child must be a certain weight so unlike a 3-in-1 convertible you can not put an infant in it....

I just bought this today on sale at Amazon for $149 for my DS. It has 5 pt harness capabilities for up to 80 lbs which make me happy. Its hard to find a 5pt harness that high in weight for that price plus the seat has great ratings.

That seat is outgrown fairly early due to low top harness slots. When foward facing you want the harnesses top come from above the child's shoulders. This seat may get a typical height child to about 4-4.5 which is to young to booster in terms of safety.
As for the Evenflo symphony, he has until 37 inches or when his head is 1" from the seat itself (not the adjustable headrest) it typically lasts ask average height cols until right at the 2 year old minimum to foward face.
Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss more! !

The weight goes to 80 pounds, but the seat still has 18" top harness height so it will be outgrown with an average torso around an average of a size 6 maybe 7 shirt.

They are referred to as "harnessed boosters " but are really considered combination seats. A seat that is foward facing only that starts as a harness seat then converts to a belt positioning booster
