Has my son really given up sleep? Who is up bright and early at 4 am - full of energy wants to play and had no nap on Sunday? He is 18 months. Anyone else experience? This mom is drained
What do you do? This is on going for a few days - he has no pain just cries bc wants to play and not sleep
Exhausted mom needs help -

Sleep regression???
My DD is also 18 months and is doing the same thing. Only she wakes up at 12 or 1 wide eyed wanting to play. I just let her cry in the crib after making sure she is safe, doesn't need to be changed etc. Eventually she falls back to sleep but is up at 6am like she slept all night. Praying it is a phase!

Re: Sleep regression???
DS is 18 months and his sleep has been erratic for at least the last 1-2 weeks. Last night, he finally STTN.

I deal by having a super early bedtime. DH and I are typically in bed by 9pm at the latest. We get up between 5:20-5:30am. Pre DS, we'd go to bed by 10:30 and wake up at 5:45. The broken sleep to me is a killer and way worse than getting 6 hours of continuous sleep.
I usually let him cry for 10-15 minutes. If he doesn't stop, I go in and do one of two things. I pick him up and comfort him (no lights on) for probably 2-3 minutes and I say "it is night time, it is time to sleep". I then put him back in his crib. He usually fusses for 1-2 minutes and passes out. If he wakes up after 5 am, I usually nurse him quickly and he passes back out until I wake him up.

Broken sleep is the WORST- DH works nights so i am on 4 days w this- my little one does not want to go back to sleep - he thinks its play time

Sleep regression???
Could you try giving him a sippy cup of milk to get him to go back to sleep? I'm lucky that nursing knocks my DS right out.
Will he play in his bed if you put a few toys in there? That would never work for my DS, but I know others have had success with that.
How is his sleeping the rest of the day?
I think my DS is having a difficult time transitioning into the toddler room and that is causing erratic behavior at home. Pretty much every day last week after daycare, he had a full on tantrum, but then over the weekend he was his normal self.

Re: Sleep regression???
We went through a terrible sleep regression at 18 months. Not really the best advice, but the only way anybody would get any sleep for a few weeks was if I slept on her floor next to her crib. The good news is that it only lasted a few weeks. Hang in there!
