we are doing a baby blessing for my daughter. it would be from 12-3ish in sunday, valentine's day.

would you hate that?

it's not my only option so i can certainly choose another day.

on the invites i would say something like come share you love for our daughter blah blah blah lol

daytime function on vaentine's day?

I wouldn't mind but I'm not really into Valentine's Day... And I would assume most adults would be able to make dinner plans another day to join in your daughter's party.,

Or they could still go to dinner that night if they really wanted to. It's only from 12-3.

I wouldn't really mind at all but I would still probably pick a different day if it's easy to do.

I wouldn't mind it. Its early enough where they could do dinner or something afterwards.

SO and I are actually really into Valentine's and it wouldn't bother me at all- it's during the day.

daytime function on vaentine's day?

with DH work schedule (he works nights and doesn't have weekends off) we can't celebrate holidays on their actual days sometimes.
Its during the day, so i can't see this being a huge problem.
However, I do know a lot of people who go out to eat for V-Day as a family with their kids and they go earlier in the day to avoid the crush. So, this personally, if i was planning this event in your place, would make me choose a different date alone.
Overall, if you could, I would pick another date. It falls on the weekend, a lot of couples take advantage of V-Day on a weekend and go on a mini getaway, or would like to spend the whole day together doing something just for them, romantic or not. This would obviously get in the way

I don't do much on valentine's however, I am a BIG believer in not scheduling events/parties/etc on ANY holidays. I just feel like it's inconsiderate to your guests. I know you can't please everyone but I just feel like if you can avoid scheduling on a holiday weekend then do so. With valentine's on a Sunday, people very well may have plans for the weekend to go away or spend the whole day doing things. I'd pick another date. Chat Icon

Re: daytime function on vaentine's day?

I would plan for another day. I don't know about all school districts, but that weekend starts mid-winter break in our district. We have that whole following week off. And even districts they don't have the full week off will have the Monday and/or Tuesday off for Presidents Day. I know that a lot of people I know, myself included, will be away.

I wouldn't care, most people go out to dinner anyway so I don't thing having something during the day would be a big deal

daytime function on vaentine's day?

I think I'd choose another day. DH works nights/weekends and we'd prob do a lunch/early dinner that day.
But, you know your guest list and if there are no situations like that, go for it.

I wouldn't care at all. I enjoy spending time with DH on Valentine's Day but I would absolutely go out a different night if we had an event- it's not the end of the world at all.

Re: daytime function on vaentine's day?

It is also Pres Day long holiday weekend. Depending on the school, some kids get that whole week off. I know we plan to go away that long weekend.

Re: daytime function on vaentine's day?

I think it being President's Day weekend would be more of an issue than it being Valentine's Day. It wouldn't matter to me either way, we don't go out on Valentines Day or away for President's day.
