Any tips on getting rid of.laryngitis?

I can barely talk. I have to keep handing Dh the phone if anyone calls because no one can hear me. My voice was scratchy on Fri but today it's almost nonexistent and I have a crap load of meetings next week I'm leading. I feel, maybe like I have a slight cold but nothing that should have knocked my voice out like this. Ugh.

Drink warm liquids especially tea with honey and try not to talk even though that's easier said than done

I had it once out of the blue.
Lots of hot tea, rest your voice and drink a ton of water to keep the vocal chords moist.
Mine cleared up in about 2 days.
They also make a tea called Organic Throat Coat that is awesome. Target sells it and it's in the organic aisle at most supermarkets

I used to get laryngitis often and a singer recommended this to me.

The teas will help soothe, but it's gotta just work its way out. It's usually caused from a virus. Maybe trying vitamin rich foods to help your body fight it faster.

I haven't had it in a while, but I do remember taking an expectorant. That seemed to help as well.

I literally just got over it. Started with a cold then just lost my voice from there. Almost a week!
No cure, but it takes time. Tea with honey, throat drops and just rest your voice. It'll come back.

It's important not to whisper. That actually puts more strain on your vocal cords than trying to talk normally! Rest your voice completely, as much as you can. The other posters had good ideas for what to do in the meantime (warm drinks with honey, etc.)

Thanks all. Woke up today feeling like crap so it has to be viral. Dh got me the tea above and I'm just going to wait it out.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of liquids, and I would give Elderberry syrup a try to.

Go to the ent and get predisone.
If you need your voice back fast, that is the way to go.
Other than that, stay hydrated and breathe in steam.
Vocal rest is key too.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Gargle with it.

And also drink a Tbsp diluted in any liquid. Water. Juice, etc. Aim for 2-3x per day.

I just woke up with this today! I haven't lost my voice like this in like ever! Of course I get an email this morning saying my card was used in a fraudulent purchase and I need to call Amex ASAP. Not really sure how I am going to pull this one off!

Hot steamy showers and gargle with salt water every couple hours.

I saw an interview once with a famous singer, I forget who it was, that said he melts gummy bears down and drinks that and it goes away. Maybe you have some around?

Thanks everyone. Just got home from the drs. Woke up with a voice but feel like I got hit by a mack truck with a 102 fever. Dr said it's viral so I'm lying in bed. I couldn't even see straight this morning. Dr tested me for the flu, it's not that thank goodness for that.
