It Works!

What is your opinion on the whole It Works! company/pyramid thing. Similar to Advocare, Arbonne...etc...

I NEVER buy into any of this stuff. I feel like there are soo many other products on the market that are just as effective for much less $$. But I also dont really believe that any product can help you lose weight. Old fashioned diet and exercise is the only way IMO.

One of my best friends has started selling this stuff and shes all into it and believes in it, and thats fine. To each their own. She sends a text to our group of friends, we are all super close for years and we are having dinner tonight. She says she cant wait to talk to all of us about it and would really appreciate our support...

What do I say??? I really just think its crap (again only my personal opinion, I in no way would judge anyone for thinking otherwise) but it is just not something I would ever spend my money on or really want to put in or on my body.

I would never tell her how I really feel about it because I dont want to discourage her and hurt her feelings, but on the other hand, I dont feel like i should HAVE to buy anything just because.

How would you guys handle?

I would just say, no thanks, I'm not interested, but best of luck with your new endeavor!

If she's a real friend she will leave it at that.

It Works!

Ugh my cousin is all into the it works! As well. I told her send me a sample if I like it and it's effective I'll look into a purchase. She followed up on her end and I did mine- I tried it and said it wasn't for me and that was that.

Re: It Works!

I was always very skeptical of those sorts of direct sales but if it was a friend I would try bc why not support my friend

Any way I ended up trying Rodan + Fields and LOVING the results, using it for more than 2 years I decided recently to sell it myself

Inviting friends or mentioning it is not forcing anyone to do anything IMO and if they want to try a free sample or order then they can, if not they can say no or ignore either way does not bother me. I learned based on my experience that when you really like something and become passionate about it you want to sell it, anyway that is my experience.

It Works!

My cousin drank the kool aid on it works, but then again she's also made enough to quit her job and do it full time. She makes a good living with it

Re: It Works!

Thank you everyone for your input.

I think its great if its something she loves and wants to sell - like someone said, maybe just to support a friend, I will buy something once and then just tell her it wasnt for me.

I just feel bad saying flat out no. I know she would be fine with it - I just dont want to hurt her feelings. This is a friend of mine since we were 5 years old...

Re: It Works!

I had gone to a party to support an acquaintance who was selling.

I thought the wrap for your stomach seemed cool and was hoping for miracles, lol

Be forewarned that the way its promoted you sign up for 3 months.

Bottom line I didn't like it and I spent a lot of money.

If you really feel like you want to get something to support her I would just buy 1 wrap which I think is $25 and see if you like it before making the commitment.

Re: It Works!

I think it's crap too. I bought the whole stupid (expensive) package and didn't see any results at all. I don't know anyone that has been happy with it.

I would just tell her you're happy she found something that she's so passionate about, but it just isn't for you.

Re: It Works!

Twice I had friends/family members try to sell me on pyramid weight loss things... both times I jokingly pretended to be hurt that they thought I needed to lose weight. Both times the backed off.

IMO very ballsy to suggest your friends need weight loss products!

You should not feel bad not buying something you don't want.

Chat Icon I've never thought about it like that, but now that you mention it, it is ballsy and rude to imply someone needs to buy weight loss products.

I have a friend that sells for a different company and they try to market it as selling a "healthier lifestyle" but there is nothing healthy about taking supplements, filled with who-knows-what-chemicals, all day in place of meals (IMO).

Thats the motto of It Works too...a "healthier Lifestyle." I feel the same as you. If I really wanted a healthier lifestyle, I wouldn't eat anything processed w/preservatives etc. Why would I take this crap? It just make any sense to me and I just cant understand how people buy into it.

Re: It Works!

IMO all of those weight loss gimmicks are stupid. The only thing that works, besides diet/exercise, are horrible things like cigarettes, cocaine, meth. Unless they're peddling that stuff, then I think its all psychosomatic.

Re: It Works!

IMO wrapping your stomach and thighs in overpriced saran wrap and thinking it's going to slim you down is pretty stupid.
Maybe you sweat for the 45 minutes you have it on so you lose some water retention/bloat- but eat a salty meal or drink some water and it's right back.

The only thing to "tighten" losse and saggy skin skin is surgery.
Come on now

And the best is- now they have hair vits.
That in one month make your hair grow about 6 inches.
Right. Hocus pocus shitt in a vitamin is going to make your hair grow that fast. Oh and stop male pattern baldness too. In one month.

If that were the case this shitt wouldn't be being peddled by people on FB. It would be a multi billion dollar business owned by some huge pharmaceutical corp on the NYSE

Please

No they actually aren't. Pyramid Schemes are actually illegal and these are legit companies. As far as whether the product actually works is a different story. I've heard some people rave about it but personally when I tried it nothing happened at all.
