jewish baby naming ceremony question
We're going to one tomorrow for friends. She already had a shower and we got them something really nice for that. Do I bring another gift to tomorrow's ceremony or is just a card OK? I've never been to one of these before so I don't know what's customary.

Re: jewish baby naming ceremony question
Usually people bring money or a baby gift from the registry for the baby naming bc most Jewish people don't have a Shower. I didn't have a shower and have boys so when we had their Bris we got the majority of the registry gifts then or money. I guess it's equivalent to a Christening. You get a gift for a shower and bring something for the Christening as well.
Even a little something is fine since you did get them a nice gift already. Maybe a cute book, outfit, etc. Doesn't have to be expensive. Just a little something to celebrate the baby is nice.

I treated it like a christening. I gave a gift similar to what I would give at a christening.

I didn't have showers, but people bought gifts when the baby was born.
For the naming we mostly got money (in multiples of $18) or personalized gifts. Something to celebrate her getting her Hebrew name (personalized in English though)

A baby naming is equivalent to a Christening. It's welcoming the child into the Jewish faith and giving her her Hebrew name. I recommend giving money in increments of 18...which means life
