We did pirates and mermaids good dd's 3rd and that would definitely work. We did a "tattoo parlor", sand art, walk the plank, a treasure hunt. There are tons of ideas on pinterest like decorating treasure chests, etc.

I let them each pick their own themes this year and last year. This year my son picked paw patrol and my daughter picked frozen. So I'll have a frozen cake and a paw patrol cake with PP plates and goody bags for the boys and Frozen plates and goody bags for the girls.

what month is it?
I'm guessing not summer, but summer themed parties are so gender neutral and easy.
Reading/book themes are cool. For activities both of their favorite books can be read during the party by a beloved family member. You can make bookmarks as an art activity. lots of ideas there.
You can do a disney party- mickey and minnie!
I love the idea of pirates and mermaids.
You can have a color theme, so pick his favorite color and her favorite color.

we did this last year too! frozen and spiderman!
