She is a first time mom and is excited. I would leave her registry alone. Let her get whatever she thinks she wants and needs and she can return or exchange later. She will learn as she goes, that's half the fun of it.

Unless she asked for help specifically, I wouldn't offer advice.

She SPECIFICALLY asked for advice.

But I gave an edit above where I am juts going to take the advice I am given here and let her enjoy the registry, use what she can, return what she cant use.

For some reason the way the OP was worded sounded like her MOM asked you to give advice that was unsolicited by your friend. But if she asked for advice, go ahead and give it, but still tread lightly. What's obvious from this thread is that every item you mentioned was very helpful to at least one person and completely useless to at least one person. Every baby and every mom is different, and it's impossible to predict what items each will end up preferring. So most importantly she should remember to keep gift receipts and try to save gift cards/store credit for after the baby is here and she KNOWS what she needs.

The newborn boppy is a lounger and not a nursing pillow, so 1 and 2 serve different functions. I will say I got a newborn lounger for free and never use it - I don't recommend it.

Regarding newborn sized stuff, that depends on the size of the baby - my dd is 5 weeks and was born at almost 41w and is still in newborn diapers and clothes. She was a small baby. I used side snap onesies with my first two who were summer babies but not this baby (they were too big when I was warm). It's hard to get things over a newborns head.

I would add the big ticket items with the exception of the convertible car seat - new ones come out all the time and I would want to most current model when I am ready to use it. Otherwise, 6 months flies, so I wouldn't hesitate to keep the high chair on. I would also add an activity mat, bouncer, jumparoo and swing. And a carrier.

I think each mom is different. I used some of those things and not others. Other moms used all...some used none. Everything can be returned and in the worse case she get store credit or gift cards they can use towards other things. I would let the Mom to be register for whatever she wants.

ITA. I think it would be rude to tell her to remove things she clearly wants. Everyone is different. She can return almost anything she doesn't use.

ITA! I don't think there is anything on there that is not needed. Every mom is different. She can always return/exchange if need be.

I think the registry is fine. If the baby is big they may be in the car seat at 6 months. The infant car seat gets heavy to carry around.
To be honest the robe is cute. im sure it's not super expensive so what's the big deal. I didn't register for one but got one at my shower. I used it for some cute Beth time photos.
