Very sad situation imo. I saw it on fb and someone commented that this is her child's bus driver 
here
I had the link messed up but I think i fixed it now.
Maybe someone looking for a tenant could help.

And if her son is disabled shouldn't they qualify for some sort of assistance?

I don't know what district. I would think he would qualify for some monetary assistance like disability, but I guess the amount is small. Sounds like she's kind of stuck bc she works full time and receives a salary that is too much for her to qualify for help but too little for them to make it. It would be a blessing if they could find a little apartment for like a thousand a month. I feel very bad for the situation.

Probably not, most people with special needs don't qualify for social security disability until they are an adult.

Her son is an adult - the story on the GoFundMe site it says he is 32. Also, the town listed on the page is Hewlett

Seems very legit to me. A bunch of donations with full names and personal messages about knowing the woman/ being on her bus route. Plus they are only up to $600, so if you've seen it around for a while, I guess it hasn't been very successful. I took my chances and gave $10.

If someone knows her, she needs to contact the town of hempstead for housing... I know the senior housing in Oceanside has over 62 and younger disabled people living there...They only charge you a certain amount based on your income... She needs someone with pull to get her on the top of the list...

I just want to add, that the state makes it very difficult to get your child/adult determined to be disabled. Lots of hoops, paperwork, etc. Hopefully someone can steer her in that direction. Most programs, housing, etc. are dependent on that determination from OPWDD. Believe me, I've been going through it for my son. Not easy! (and that's not even the Social Security Disability part, which I have heard is a nightmare).
