anyone try grassfed milk?

I have been buying any brand of organic 2% milk that is not ultra pasteurized. I was in Whole Foods yesterday and saw Organic Valley grassfed milk. I bought some to try and we used it in the boys cereal this morning. It is definitely creamier than other milks and tastes a bit different but the boys didn't notice a difference. Do you think it is worth the slightly higher price or is this just another "gimmick" to try to get people to spend more money on milk?

This is my personal opinion... i believe in eating clean and eating organic. I do believe that they are putting so much antibiotics and hormones in the animals and creating genectically modified foods that it is harming all of us.
Watch documentaries like food inc.
Read about monsanto and gmos and what they are doing to farmers who do not go along with the program

Since my dd was an infant she eats organic meats veggies and snacks. Am i perfect with it? Absolutely not. She eats munchkins from dd, cake or cookies at parties. But at home we keep an organic non gmo household.
Specifically milk has been linked to all types of hormones that affect us in a negative way. Also a study was done about how it affects boys.
So much if our diet affects how our body functions its very important, at least in my eyes, to get the best products out there.
And im not judging and i dont mean to come off preachy. But i do buy i to that hype. I do believe that organic is the way to go.
To each is own, i have plenty of friends that eat anything and everything feed it to their kids and its all good. Were all moms trying to do what is best.
I just say make an educated decision. Know the facts , know how you interpret them and then make a decision from there.

Eta: there was just a report released of the testing they did on the meat at fast food and chains. They were filled with antibiotics and hormones.

We are the same- not 100% organic but we definitely try to avoid as much junk and overly processed stuff as possible. On vacation or at parties, my kids are basically allowed to eat whatever they want but it all balances out since we eat very healthy at home. In any case, I was just more interested to see if anyone else had tried grassfed milk. I always buy organic as long as it is not ultra pasteurized. This milk was way more expensive than regular organic but it is supposedly more "natural"- it even has to be shaken since it has the cream on top. I think it may be new as I have never seen it before. My boys had it this morning for the 2nd morning in a row with no complaints even though I taste the slight difference. It is sweeter- you can almost taste vanilla. I guess I will mix it up and buy this sometimes and my regular 365 brand organic 2% other times.

I don't drink milk or eat meat but if I did it would be only from grass fed animals as much as I possibly could. Dd has never drank milk but with meat I only get grass fed and organic.

Cows are supposed to eat grass not grain. We avoid gmos as much as possible and eat organic as much as possible. I believe real food is the best medicine.

I wish I could call my organic carrots just carrots. And the other types genetically engineered carrots.

I only get grassfed milk (either Fairway's, which is the cheapest, or through the online farmer's market, which also happens to be non-homogenized) unless I'm in a pinch.

Is it healthier to drink grass-fed or organic milk?

Anything dairy (cheese, yogurt, butter) I get only grass-fed when I can find it.

I am a guilty omnivore, so after reading The Omnivore's Dilemma and watching Food Inc., I try to eat only animals and animal-products from animals that eat what nature intended (eggs and meat from pasture-raised chickens/pigs/cows etc.)

Unless I go to Whole Foods... which my boyfriend and I like to call WHOLE PAYCHECK... it is difficult to find grassfed products!

I did find milk at Fairyway (did not buy yet) but not the butter! Unless I missed it but I looked really carefully.

Anyone have any insight on where to find??

Otherwise I have to make a separate and special trip to Whole Foods and every single time I go there my boyfriend quips, as we walk in: "Welcome to Whole Foods, may I take your paycheck?"

Oh and another question -- is it true with the grassfed milk that you need to scoop the like, layer of cream and kind of goop that collects at the top off?? Supposedly there is a layer of goop, no??

The Organic Valley brand of grassmilk has cream on top, we have to shake it. I buy Kerrygold butter, usually at Whole Foods but I've seen it at Trader Joe's as well. For yogurt I just buy Stonyfield Farm or Chobani, but maybe we will make the switch. It will be hard to convince DH though.

ETA: Annie's mac & cheese now makes a version with grass fed cheese.
