How to sync toddler and newborn naps?

How do I get two yo DD to nap when one month old DS is sleeping? I've managed a handful of times but it's so hard. Either one or the other is crying/fussing, etc. DD is a terror when it comes to sleeping, so that definitely is not helping. She needs to nap though. Let me know what you did that worked. Thanks.

I put dd2 in her swing (she's 2 months) when I put dd1 in for her nap. Usually works. There are days when dd1 skips her nap and days when dd2 is fussy during that time.

my kids are 15 months apart. My 15mo had a schedule that worked for her when the newborn arrived...and i did not mess with that. her routine was to nap around 1pm, and that is what i did. IMO, the oldest child is going through enough of a change with a newborn in the house. if they are used to a routine of napping at a certain time, stick with it and work your newborn around that.

I am going to say most days that i was home on maternity leave my newborn did not nap at the same time...he was a bad napper...maybe 20 minutes or so. But eventually i did get him onto her schedule. But it was not until he was 6 months old or so. Its rough in the beginning, but once I got him down to 2 naps a day, it works out great. He takes a morning nap (11:30am-12:30pm) and they both take an afternoon nap around 3pm.

I think a 1 month old is too difficult to schedule. They nap so often, often for short cat naps. And then they change!

My son is 2.5yo and daughter is almost 4 months old. I think there were 2 days of my maternity leave that they both napped at the same time. It's only now that she's getting better at napping that we can get some overlap.

my 3yo has her set nap time. so I just hope and pray that my 3 week old is napping at that time. my newborn is too little to schedule naps like that just yet.
