Is it too late?? I live in bayside so north would be better than east.

We like Soons in the Hudson Valley. Very easy trip up the Thruway.
There's also lots of other things to do in the area and the outlets aren't too far away.
It's also not as crazy busy as many of the places in the Warwick area where most of LI and NYC flocks to.

Apple picking next weekend
Not too late at all...we are going the 12th. We go to Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard in North Salem. We live in Nassau but right over the queens border and it takes us about an hour & 10 min.
