C-Section Pain near uteruine incision?

Hi Ladies,

I'm 6 weeks post-pardom. Had a c-section, ended up with an infection in my c-section incision and had to have a Visiting Nurse come for 4 weeks to "pack" the tunnel so it healed and closed from the bottom up.

So now...6.5 weeks later, I started noticing that the "ridge" under the skin where the Uterine incision would be has a painful lump on one side, the skin is a little warm there and its pinker then the skin on the right and i'm SO nervous there's another infection underneath somehow developing? This process has ruined my entire maternity leave and I've had the worst recovery ever. (I also had a reaction to the dermabond glue and have little blisters on the incision line.)

Anyone else have experience with a painful lump under the skin on ONE part of where the uterine incision would be? I have an appointment on Tuesday but anxious that I have to wait 5 (!) days to go to the doctor. I've lost all faith in medicine.

Thank you for ANY insite you can provide.

C-Section Pain near uteruine incision?

I could feel my whole uterine incision, it's not as large now at almost 10 months PP... But the fact that you mention that it is painful and warm does make me think possible infection. Get it checked, even if it's nothing, better safe than sorry.

I had a lump on the side where they tied it. I know where they ended so I figured it was from the knot they had to make. I don't know about redness, can't say, but I had a lump along the whole incision, with a larger lump at the knot (end). Hope all goes well for you and it's nothing!

I had a scary beginning with my incision but thankfully it never got a full blown incision. I'd it possible for you to extend your leave for a week or two due to the complications? My friend had a complication at the start of her leave and her doctor didn't approve her to go back for an extra week even. I would push to go in sooner if you think an infection may be starting and see what they say about returning to work. My ob always saw me the same day when I had a concern about my incision.

I had lumps under my c-section as well. Doc told me they were hematomas. They go away over time as they break down. If it is at all painful or warm call the OB immediatley! I had to do 2 rounds of antibiotics in my first 6 weeks. Keep the incision very dry especially if you have a little tummy over it. I would shower with dial 2X a day and then lay on the bed and blowdry the incision and then put clean dry gauze against it so no moisture sat on it. I changed my gauze very 3 hours. It was alot of work but I healed well and avoided any serious infections.

That sounds like a terrible experience.
Call your office: sadly, they are not going to see you over weekend, but should on Monday.
