Jared Fogle from Subway pleads Guilty! Ewhhhh!!!
One-time Subway pitchman Jared Fogle has agreed to plead guilty to charges that he traveled across state lines to have sex with minors as well as possessed and distributed child pornography, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
According to an Associated Press report, Fogle will pay 14 victims $1.4 million in restitution.
FBI spokeswoman Wendy Osborne tells PEOPLE: "He is in custody. He was processed and escorted down to the courthouse this morning."
Five weeks after authorities raided the Zionsville, Indiana home he shares with his wife and two young children, Fogle, 37, walked into federal court in Indianapolis and is expected to accept the plea deal with prosecutors, which means he will avoid a trial in the case.
According to the federal charging documents, Fogle sent texts to escorts asking them "to provide him with access to minors as young as 14 to 15 years for purposes of commercial sex acts with him" but did so only after having sex with the escorts "to insure that they were not undercover police officers."
The federal charges also detail more of Fogle's acts, including:
Fogle paid a 17-year-old money for sex while he was staying at the Plaza Hotel in New York on Nov. 3, 2012.
The next day, he sent her texts "offering to pay her a fee if she could find him an underage girl to engage in commercial sex acts with him," saying he would "accept a 16 year old," but, "the younger the girl, the better," the charges state.
Fogle sent texts to the 17-year-old on Dec. 27, 2012 again offering to pay her if she could find someone underage for him to have sex with. Fogle said, "he would really make it worth her while if she could find one," and also gave her his email address and asked a different minor to send him pictures of herself.
That same day, the 17-year-old emailed Fogle three images showing her "nude genitals or pubic area," which Fogle replied to and "expressed his approval of the content."
A few weeks later, on Jan. 11, 2013, Fogle had sex again with the 17-year-old at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York in exchange for cash.
Wednesday's plea deal was the first time authorities officially acknowledged that Fogle was the subject of an investigation, and it marked a dramatic fall from prominence for Fogle, who became a popular and successful pitchman for Subway after losing more than 200 pounds on a diet that included the chain's sandwiches.
Subway suspended its relationship with Fogle after the initial raid on his home, and on Tuesday told PEOPLE in a statement that, "We have already ended our relationship with Jared."
The first hint that Fogle might be connected to a child pornography investigation surfaced after the April arrest of Russell Taylor, 43, who was the executive director of Fogle's Jared Foundation. Taylor was arrested on federal charges of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
