San Francisco/Sonoma
Thinking about going in March for my birthday. It would only be for 4 days/3 nights. Any recommendations on places to stay? Would you stay in San Francisco and drive to Napa/Sonoma or split the stay.

I'd split the stay this way you don't have to worry about driving back to SF after a day of wine tasting.
We stayed at the Fairmont Nob Hill in SF and the Fairmont Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma. Loved them both.
We also did a private wine tour which was AMAZING with Jack Swanson.

We did 3 nights in SF, left SF early on the 4th day and checked in to the hotel, did the Wine tour with Jack in the afternoon and spent the night in Sonoma. The next morning we did a another wine tour (just rented a limo and did it without an escort), then we went back to the hotel, hit the spa for a couple of hours and drove back to SF late in the evening. Spent a night in a hotel by the airport before our early flight out the next morning.
