Harder time leaving 2nd child than my 1st....

Has anyone experienced this? With my first child, I didnt really have a problem leaving her. I was breastfeeding but she took a bottle with no problems at 3 weeks old. I went back to work after 3 months and while it was hard at first I was Ok and she was fine at daycare. With my 2nd child I'm having such a hard time leaving her for anything. She comfort nurses a lot at night and while its draining at times, I really enjoy it. DH & I have plans to go to dinner with friends this weekend and I'm really stressing about being away from her. The time is also coming when I need to make a decision about going back to work and I just don't know what to do. Anyone have a harder time leaving their 2nd child than their first?

Yes! That is my exact same experience I'm having right now.
My older ds used to scream all the time, didn't bf so I'd pump & give him bottles only, & I didn't have much trouble leaving him. I went back to work just fine after 12 weeks.
My new little guy is so easygoing, no trouble, I love breastfeeding him & we have a great routine going, I hate to leave him even for a few hours! And he doesn't take a bottle as easily, so I feel bad when I can't feed him. I'm staying out of work longer this time & not thrilled at the thought of going back.

I had a similar experience. As hard as it was to leave my first, for some reason I felt worse leaving my 2nd. I felt like our time together during maternity leave was rushed because I also had my daughter who is only 18 months older.

I also felt like I didn't get to breastfeed him as long as I wanted to.

Plus he is the sweetest little boy and I just didn't want to leave him!!!

I think once you go back you'll be fine, but I can't say it is ever easy!!!

I had a harder time going back to work the second time around, but I was fine to leave for a dinner or a few hours - you NEED that time away.

Re: Harder time leaving 2nd child than my 1st....

My second DS is only two weeks old so I haven't left him yet but I could so see this being me. I feel like I worry about him so much more than I did with DS1. I had a more difficult pregnancy this time and he was born 3 weeks early and smaller than DS1. Not sure if that is why I feel super over protective but I am certain I will have a really hard time leaving him when the time comes.
