When grandparents live OOS
For those of you who have parents who live OOS what kind of things do they like to do when they come to visit? Do they try to do things with the kids? Treat their trip like a vacation?

When grandparents live OOS
My son is still young, 15 months. As of right now, my ILs come up for the weekend and hang out with us at our house and my FIL helps my DH do projects around the house. As he gets older, we'll probably try to do something productive one day and the other day lounge around.
My parents are weird... My dad will only come and visit for the day. We live 3 hours away and have a guest room with a queen size bed and more or less a private bath. He usually gets here around 1, takes us out to lunch, and leaves around 6. My mom hates to drive anywhere especially long distances. If she comes without my dad, she will stay the night. The last time she visited overnight my DS was too young for activities.

My parents live OOS & see my kids in NY about 3-4 times a year & then I spend 3-4 weeks at their house in the summer
My kids are 5&6 now but honestly when my parents come, we don't do things in particular. We let the kids pick but most of the time my boys want to stay home & play with my parents. My parents are younger, just 65, extremely active so they will play baseball, run around the yard with them. We do take day trips to visit other family members but that's about it
When we visit my parents, we tend to do more bc it's summer & we have a lake house where my parents live. We tend to do the "rural" things as my kids love the farms ( parents live in dairy country), state fairs, trail hikes

When grandparents live OOS
My Parents retired out to Las Vegas. they visit once or twice a year and stay for about 10 days. Since they lived here in NY until retiring 10 years ago, they do not treat it like a vacation. They will do whatever the kids want to do.

My dad and his wife live in NC. Sadly they don't want to do anything special with the kids when they come visit or when we go visit them.

Grandma just wants to be with dd even if it's just cuddling on the couch. Dd got very attached at their last visit so now we FaceTime.

When grandparents live OOS
My parents moved to FL before I was even married. When I had DS we made sure I visit them 2x a year and they come up together 2x and then my dad comes up int he winter and mom comes up in the fall.
When we go there we do more action type things - day at disney, animal park water stuff.
When they are here in the summer we will do the beach etc but it is more like daily life since we still have work and daycare.
When DS was young it was hard because he didn't really feel comfortable around them so he didn't like to be left with them. Now that he's 3 they are "buddies"

When grandparents live OOS
My in laws live OOS but when they come to visit we usually just hang around the house/yard and they play with DD. We go out to lunch or dinner with them too. It's really just more everyday type things since my DH still has work while they're here or my DD will have school and other things going on.

When we first moved, we would do lots of touristy things when the grandparents came to visit. Now that the kids are older we do plan some fun activities but they also enjoy just sitting around relaxing with us. We live about 8-9 hours away so they always stay for a few days.
