What type of dr....?

Orthopedic. But you may have to go to your reg dr first. (I went right to Orthopedic for my knee problems ..it would have been a waste to see my reg dr..would have referred me anyway)

Re: What type of dr....?

Where are you located?

DH recently hurt his back.....turned out to be a herniated disc. He has been using the spine center at Southside and they've been excellent.

He started with a regular ortho and it was lots of running around getting an appt, going out for MRIs, etc.

He needed a shot in his back too and they were wonderful.

FIL has same issue and had it done with pain management and is still in pain!!

What type of dr....?

Huntington.

I was thinking maybe a neurologist too. Maybe not. It sounds muscular and inflammation. His primary told him to do stretches which helped at the time, but he hasn't been good about it. Maybe we will start with the pcp again.

How long has this been going on? The duration of the pain?

Just don't rule out something like the shingles, for example. My father just came down with the shingles last week -- it started out with back pain. And then about a week after that he got the rash and then he realized it was shingles! Did your DH have chicken pox when he was little?

Because if he did have them then the shingles virus is in his body and makes him more likely to get the shingles. So, keep that in mind. It's just weird I saw your post as this JUST happened to my dad. Chat Icon

Oh ok - if the duration of pain is that long then no, you should be fine.

It usually goes from the nerve and general pain to the rash within a 1-2 week period of the pain beginning.

CONGRATS! (on the baby part lol) Chat Icon

Re: What type of dr....?

I herniated my disc 4 weeks ago. I've been seeing a chiro who does rehabilitation physical therapy, and an acupuncturist. After 4 weeks I'm really starting to feel better.
