Family Trip Sesame or DW or....

We need to schedule a family short vacation. Primarily the focus of the trip is family fun, basically making our 4 year old feel that he got a cool vacation.
My wife and I have taken a vacation together. we've had an individual guy/girl weekend done or scheduled. So we're pretty well taken care of over the past year. However, even though we did go away with family at one point for a wedding, the little guy hasn't gotten teh whole hotel/ fun experience.

So thats the background. We're trying to pick somewhere we can spend 2-3 nights, something he will enjoy. A secondary concern is, we would like to go to a place that we're not feeling is so completely kid focused that we don't enjoy ourselves.

Last year, we did Lancaster, Crayola, with a day at Hershey. That was fun, but I think Hershey was both too much for him, and just busy. So we were entertaining Dutch wonderland, or Sesame place. we haven't been to either. He's not big on meeting characters, but likes sesame street.

Any thoughts on the better option? a 3rd one?
Any idea which we might enjoy better being there?
What would be perfect would be if we had friends that could go with us and give him a playmate, but the schedules just aren't working out. I'm just picturing us standing around shepherding him from 1 ride to another.

Also, as another comment, Eden which seems cool and highly recommended is over $200 a night during the timeframe, so we probably are looking for other accommodations.

Thanks

dutch wonderland and sesame are all about the kids... especially that age. My DS is 4 and doesn't like seasame characters much so we went when he was 18 months and prob won't go back. Fun, but too busy. We went to dtuch wonderland this past June and it was great. He loved it and so did we.

We did a long weekend in philly and my 4 and 2 year old loved it. Plenty of kid things there to enjoy and fun for adults too. We let them play at the park that is in the historic district and then walked to the huge food market and since they fell asleep on the walk over it was actually relaxing. We also did the please touch museum. We rented an apartment through vrbo and it was great.

What if you did philly with a day at sesame? Philly is great for you and your wife, but also for kids. Please touch musuem, zoo and aquarium. Reading terminal for lunch. Shopping, restaurants, etc.

Do sesame for the day on your way home
